So heres a question I randomly started wondering: Does your gender have any effect on your sleep? As in, do men sleep more than women or vice versa?
So if you guys could post your gender and average hours of sleep, I could do some sciency maths calculations and finally get an answer to this age old question.

I don't believe gender really has anything to do with sleep, but for the purpose...

Female, 8 hours (I make sure I get 8 hours of sleep every night)

Male. Irregular sleep patterns.

(Anything from 5-6 hours if I need to get up early, or 6-8 hours depending on what time I go to bed (I normally wake up about 9-10am, 11am latest))

Male, 8-9 hours on workdays and 10-11 hours on weekends.

Hormones inherent to the genders probably would impact sleep patterns somewhat but I'd be hesitant in making too much out of that. Living conditions, personal factors and many more things completely unrelated to gender likely have a much greater impact.

Just seems a bit odd that every time gender or anything else comes up people spend most of the time looking for differences while there are infinitely many more things in common.

Female and I sleep when I'm tired until I am not tired any more.

I don't keep track of my sleeping pattern, it's pretty all over the place, but me and my boyfriend generally sleep and wake up at the same times. I can't imagine gender playing a big role in it.

Male, very irregular sleep patterns. It's especially messed up during holidays.

I think 6 or 7 hours on average though (normal weekdays)

Male, 6-7 hours depending on alcohol consumption (it tends to wake me up early and it's often hard to get back to sleep when I do, but once I manage it I will then oversleep, because my body is a prick and it hates me)

Male 6-7 hours everyday, weekday or not. I've never been able to sleep very long at one time.

5-6 hours on weekdays, like 12-14 hours on the weekend. I need like 9 hours a night to feel rested, so on the weekend I just play catchup.

Male, 4-5 hours. And I simply don't need any more sleep either. Most people I tell that to are surprised, but I actually feel worse when I stay in bed longer for whatever reason.
