What do you think a genderbent Watchmen woul be like? I was imagining that a female Rorschach's origin story would be changed to being sexually abused by his father (not sexist, just that, realistically, a male Sylvia wouldn't be a prostitute, and so on), and a female Nite Owl II, instead of having penile impotence outside of his costume, would have difficulties orgasming outside of her costume. And the hood would be shaped like a vagina rather than a penis.

Actually seeing as how one the characteristics of Roarshach that I feel gets overlooked by people is his conservative view point and his blatant homophobia, the same thing could of been accomplished by her walking in on her father having sex with his butch lover and the butch lover beating her for ruining the moment.

Same thing gets accomplished, FemShach idolizing her Mother... ectera.... I just can't imagine Roarshach being raped, Walter Kovacs didn't even fully become crazy until he found that little girl fed to the dogs.

Well, I don't believe that Rorschach was specifically homophobic (that comment about Veidt just seemed to be an observation, since he's an obsessive investigator who could want to "out" Veidt's facade to the public), just a sexually repressed antisexual. Although I guess your thing could work as well.

But why can't you imagine Rorschach being raped? No matter how strong you are, man or woman, you can still be raped, and it could contribute to Rorschach's negative view of sex the same way that hearing his prostitute mother's perceived screams of pain during sex with her clients and then being beaten afterwards for interrupting did.

No, Kovacs didn't fully become crazy until the Blair Roche case, but he was still somewhat unhinged beforehand (e.g. his wet dream involving his mother, his minsathropy after reading about witnesses' apathy to Kitty Genovese's rape and murder, becoming a vigilante in the first place - most, if not all, of the vigilantes in Watchmen are psychologically troubled).

If I'm not mistaken, when Roarshach was going through the list of people that had been murdered/killed off over the years while he was standing by the Comedian's grave he laments that the Black Widow(?)'s deviant lifestyle (her homosexual partnership) led to her untimely demise.

It's glossed over, but I'll put it this way, can you Roarshach being pro-gay marriage? Guys ultra conservative.... Granted thats one of things I like about him so much, not that I agree with it, but that he's a badass character with those negative characteristics.

Cause Roarshach was a character damaged by society and driven to lash out. The trope of rape victims (I'm talking in media people, not real life) is that the attack makes them go more inward- Particularly if their molested as a kid, they get the idea the rape was some how their fault.

And Roarshach is the anti-thesis of that. In Roarshach's eyes, it's everybody BUT him thats delusional. It wouldn't feel right for him to have an ounce of self-loathing. Femshach as you described would of been more like Lisbeth Salander of the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy and sure- shes a dark badass character- But she's damaged and she knows shes damaged. Roarshach sees himself as normal.

That's only in the movie (fucking shitty adaptation). In the graphic novel, he just says that the Silhouette was killed off by a petty adversary with a grudge. She didn't mention anything about her lesbian status or lifestyle.

wait, what was really changed about it instead of the squid?

Really of all the adaptations I've seen of other works like c'mon, the movie was pretty good. At least it wasn't Max Payne.

Changes I can remember off the top of my head...

They show the Comedian at JFK's assassination with a rifle
They changed the method Rorschach used to kill the child killer
Nite Owl witnesses Dr Manhattan killing Rorschach and has his little hissy fit on Ozymandias.

A personal one, here but I felt the way the guy who played Ozymandias was in that role it couldn't be more obvious he was the villain. Though obviously I already knew that having read the book, but he just acted shifty as fuck throughout the film.

God, not another of these predictable "What if the Watchmen characters were all the opposite gender" threads. I'm getting so sick and tired of them. It's like the internet just has no sense of originality anymore. If I see one more genderbent Watchmen, anime hitler, or hipster cthulhu thread I'm gonna lose it.

That didn't even cross my mind, but the image of a male Silk Specter in a gimp suit (or something equally fetishistic -- Silk Specter 1 wore lingerie for a reason) did, and promptly squicked me out. No thank you on a male Silk Specter.
