I sincerely hope he makes some actual arrests here. Anonymity is great and all, but hacking a legitimate site because you don't agree with the views of the owner (Especially when his views are "Don't illegally download music.") is something to get punished over. These people have been hiding behind their anonymity for too long, its about time somebody who could potentially win fought back.
Again, those responsible can lead any tracers around like they have strings attached to them. No one's getting arrested, but someone may end up mentally broken here.
And again, that's kinda why I hate them. As the article says, these guys think they're somehow above the law. Why do people frown upon techies? Because they lay those stupid mines everywhere and because half of them of hackers who, instead of trying to better humanity in any way, shape, or form, attempt to spread as much anarchy as possible just to prove they can't get caught. They shouldn't be congratulated for their acts of cyber-vandalism.
I didn't say I support them. I personally think they should be banned from computers entirely for a few years. However, I'm not optimistic.

I like Simmons music but he seems like an asshole and i'm glad anonymous is fucking with him. I think anonymous will win but hopefully it'll be fun to watch.

I illegally download some songs. (rarely)

Why? Because I hate newer music. If I'm not sure if I would like the entire album, I download it. I listen to it once, then delete. Upon deletion, I decide whether to buy the album or just forego it.

I downloaded "Back in Black" by Amy Winehouse with much hesitation, then bought it on vinyl. Thankfully some companies are doing a bonus with vinyl by including a code to download the album digitally as well so I do not have to buy both the vinyl and CD version.

Really, I never would've bought "Back in Black" by Amy Winehouse if I hadn't listened to the full album online. Same with Gorillaz. Same with a few others.

In closing, I would've COST these artists money if I didn't download their music or 'borrow it from a friend'.

That's not an excuse, there's plenty of legal streaming services, or even youtube, where you could preview the music, without illegal downloading it.

They don't rule the internet and I'm sick of people acting like they do.
It all depends on which side of Anonymous Gene has pissed off, because they very well may be the Final Boss of the Internet.

In this particular case I'm gonna side with Anonymous. Gene Simmons sounds like a giant tool. Sue every kid who ever downloaded a song? You, sir, are an idiot, and you had this coming for making such an ass-backwards ignorant statement.
And yet, you're siding with people who will actually ruin someone in the name of frontier justice. I'm not sure how that's worse than thinking that everyone who broke the law should see legal action. At least Simmons isn't wrecking people's **** without due process.

Though personally, I won't be shedding tears no matter who loses.

Okay lets break it down....
Yes Anonymous can do bad things, yes illegally downloading songs and such is bad. but lets face it, Artists know full well that their songs/albums can and will be illegally obtained. It is impossible not to have this happen.

Gene Simmons is in way over his head, you cannot take down anonymous, because everyone is anonymous unless you deliberately put a face to your words. It is full on stupid to sue everyone into oblivion for downloading a song or 2. Anonymous may have done fucked up stuff in the past, but how often does it really truly hurt anyone?

Anonymous has done some damn good things too, already mentioned. Such as the people who abused animals, putting them in trash bins or whatever. This stuff exists on the internet, saying it all comes from 1 or 2 websites, *4chan or Ebaums* is in itself, very ignorant of you. There is not much original stuff that starts on those few websites 1st, most of it comes from other places.

What Gene Simmons is doing is trying to get publicity. Anonymous doesn't outright attack people, unless they did something wrong, or provoked it. Trying to take away the internet, is like trying to control every aspect of the weather, you may control 1 part of it, but it's impossible as a whole to do so.

Tl;Dr... Read it anyway, but it would have to be, Gene is just being a Jew, trying to get money. Artists know full well they won't get every penny they deserve, and they still produce music because it's their job, if I may put it that way.

well so much for liking simmons, he sounds like a pretty big dick
He is a huge dick. I went to school with his nephew who told me that he once approached Gene Simmons at a cafe, just to be waived off and told he "has no family." He also threatened to call the cops. Gene Simmons apparently believes that his family targets his fame/wealth and has written them off a long time ago.

Isn't this just a flame war gone out of hand? This anon stuff seems really childish to me but then again so does Gene Simmons. Once something like lawsuits and FBI gets involved isn't this just a prank that went overboard?

This man has more money than sense and more stuff at his disposal. It'll be fun to watch how all this pans out :)
If had more money than sense then why the hell is he such a great business man?

Ok so Anon is the combined forces of 4chan and beyond. Gene said some dumb shit, anon hacked them, he said more dumb shit and they hacked him again. . . hmm, know what we need to get this realy going? Gene to get a few hackers of his own and hit 4chan. Now while i wait for this to happen im going to go grab some popcorn.
Gene said nothing before the first hack. They hacked his site for who and what he supports. Anon shouts out about freedom of speech and expression. Well this is one of the biggest hypocritical statements they have done that I can think of in recent memory.

You saying you see the part about the stuff would of made your argument valid. My argument was that if he had more money than sense then why the hell can he still get more money by being a brilliant businessman?
