Oh, this will be fun ;D. Gene Simmons has basically taken on the Devil's Spawn with this. It'll be interesting to see who comes out on top... :p
Hope like hell that they don't call truce and team up.

I'd feel more inclined to side with Mr. Simmons, but didn't his son get involved in a scam involving plagiarized manga?

Yeah, not really up to defending a man who calls the kettle black.

If you think Mr. Simmons is going to come out of this with his dignity intact, you're wrong.

There is no way in hell he's going to beat Anonymous. You can't beat anon. It's not even possible, because anon isn't an organization. It's basically Gene Simmons vs. the Internet.

I dont see how anon can win all they can do is hack his sites and find out his info and some secrets maybe? But paparazzi already do this to celebs? gene could prolly get 4chans site down and reduce some of the population of anon. so its really not much of a contest :/ *throws popcorn away* not a popcorn worthy event and btw your allowed to say whatever you want on the internet but your not allowed to take down someones site for it.

seriously all you people backing anon how can anon do anything to gene?
They already have his address and phone number. They found a sex tape of him. His website is still down. They're sending his little girlfriend jibe to every LGBT organisation they can find, and to Dr. Pepper. That could result in him losing a sponsor and costing him millions of dollars. Your move, Mr. Simmons.

Please tell me that you will be updating this as it progresses! Id love to hear more.
Genesimmons.com was back in operation last night but appears to be having more troubles at the moment. As far as that goes, we're not going to bother with a blow-by-blow account, but if either side lands a real slobberknocker we'll be sure to let you know.

Gene Simmons... who was that again? Ah yes, the "bassist" from a "band" whose success relied on face painting.
You might not care for Gene or his attitude toward downloaders, but it's not reasonable to say that his success in the music industry isn't well-deserved. Kiss is gimmicky as hell, absolutely, but it's also 100 percent ear-bleeding rock and roll spectacle. Personal dislike doesn't change that.

And personal like does?

You call it a "100 percent ear-bleeding rock and roll spectacle", I call it annoying, dated sound that's long lost its luster; a dying gasp from a nostalgic crowd.

No, I reserve the opinion that he, like many rock-stars, is overrated and seizes upon the traits of society to create music only fitting for that crowd.

I don't agree with ruining somebody's life over a dollar. It's greedy and disgusting--the hungering mouth of man's wallet in the form of Gene's Simmons' mouth, spewing out words of hatred to those who'd dare steal a dollar from their hoard.

I don't agree with thieving either. Honest musicians deserve the money they earn. As much as I may not like it; it's Gene's money. But acting like he's stabbed your mother, burglarized your house and stolen that dollar from your kid's piggy bank is ridiculous.

Anonymous seems like a bunch of little assholes.

Honestly, it's like asking me who I'd rather see win a boxing match: Hitler or Stalin.

www.genesimmons.com is back up. Pity.

Heh, okay so Anonymous are in the wrong, technically, again. Whatever, it'll be an amusing fight.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if Gene comes out of this in a bad way. Anonymous...well, they are legion. *shrug*

He's gonna get fucked.

..just saying.

Though I actually hope he "wins". I don't think he will, but it'd be awesome if he did.

A terrible musician with a disgusting greed against a bunch of morons on the Internet with deep emotional trouble. I don't understand how he can be so pissed at people downloading his music. His goal as an artist would be for more people to enjoy and distribute his music, yet still, he only seems to be in for the mo... wait, I forgot we were talking about Kiss.

Huh. I have no idea who is going to come out on top here... but given Simmons' statement, I'll root for Anon.

Yeaahhh go Anonymous WOOOO !!!!! ^_^
Sorry guys, but it seems that my considerable hatred of the RIAA has chosen my side easily. I don't like Anon any more than most of you do, but in my opinion the money grubbing music industry is oh so much worse.

And to answer the question, unless I'm missing something the only reason I see why small crimes don't have inordinate punishments is that most punishment systems are based on proportionate retribution, and my entire point is that disproportionate punishments would be far more effective.

And obviously, no, J-walking and littering should not equal death, but there is a distinct and easily maintained difference between theft or violence and disobeying civil regulations, like those or speeding or solicitation. Crimes like those are differentiated in today's world by fines vs. jail time, and they would be differentiated in a world where disproportionate penalties were normal.
While I get the idea you're getting at, if things were to be disproportionate, where would it stop? I feel like if things were allowed to get so out of hand, there wouldn't be differentiation between various laws. Baron Underbheit declared the death penalty for all infractions of Underland law. The thing your saying just sounds to me like an issue as x approaches infinity.

This was something posted on 4chan about the topic, "We are not our IPs. We are not our Computers. We are not our fucking porn folders.
We are not real consumers, and we never watch commercials. We don't want to be rock gods, and movie stars because we know what shallow hollow fucked lives they truly have.
We do have a great depression. We do have a great war. It is the information war and our fight is the fight of trying to get the corporations dicks out of our ears. We want to get the movie business balls out of our eyes and not cringe when we see a ridiculous price tag for something that should be free.
Our enemies are people who live abnormal lifestyles due to the abnormal paychecks they receive for something they love. Loving art should not be condemnable, and rebellion has pushed history forward. Sometimes in darkness, sometimes in light, but whenever it's in the name of knowledge, it can never be toward the dark.
So fuck you Tyler Durden, Fuck you that guy from kiss with the tongue, fuck you MPA, fuck you labels, fuck you studios.
You do NOT have the right to fuck up lives because they wanted music and art. You do NOT have the right to fuck up lives because they did something when they didn't disagree, instead of just whining and being raped.
You CANNOT fuck up people when they DO NO HARM except delay your deluxe swimming pool filled with jello and sharks with lazers a few more months.
WHAT YOU DO, IS NOT WORTH WHAT YOU MAKE.
Michelangelo wasn't wealthy. Beethoven was poor. Mozart was poor. Leo Da Vinci was rich by birth not by his art. Most artists lived in poverty and they were gods who shaped the world.
YOU ARE NONE OF THESE YET YOU EXPECT TO LIVE BETTER THAN THEM.
We are not anon, because you know us. We're your fucking FANS. And we don't take kindly to your kind."

and i believe it 100%, gene Simmons cant win, even with the FBI with him he cant stop piracy only hinder it. this makes me proud to be anonymous

"stands..." "claps" kinda made me crap with joy not gunna lie...i applaude you good sir

This will be good to watch, I'm actually on anon's side overall but this is one time I feel they bit off more then they can chew.

Big up anon all you want, but up to now it's only been vs peeps who couldn't fight back properly (angsty teens, camwhores, etc) or peeps who are just clueless (oprah).

This is the first time it's been up against someone who is not only immune to their conventional tricks but who has the money to back up their bark.
Send the guy a million pizzas, he can afford them.
Hax into his accounts and get incriminating evidence, he doesn't give a damn.
Send him death threats and he has the cash and spare time to track you down for the lulz.

Furthermore if he actually DOES start suing people for messing with his site, then anon is screwed. Talk about we are legion all you want, but it's a minority of anon that actually does all the hard work, the rest just lulz and rant about it.
If the guy sues and nullifies that active minority then anon becomes castrated.

I don't like nameless faceless weasels who think that other people's private property is free to take simply because they want it. I hope the FBI crushes these worthless sacks of animal waste. I know that total success just isn't possible, but I'll bet we can get a lot of douchey kids who are involved in jail where they can whine and ***** about the corporate "MAAAAN" trampling the same civil liberties they are so quick to write off for others when they stand in the way of their immediate desires.

Awww what? Is downloading music against your Paladin code or something?
Awwww is being a worthless thief not against your's?
Would you believe me if I said "no"?
