I have been reading a few reviews on Crackdown 2 to get a feel for what the sequel is all about and the biggest question that keeps popping up in the reviews but they dont go into detail is this thing about missions. Crackdown didnt really have missions just leader characters to kill which I loved. Did they move to a mission format or is it the same thing and their just calling them "missions".

Another question: I read that there is a "narrator" but I wouldnt consider the guy from the first game a narrator more of an announcer. I could understand that what he said could get insufferably annoying for some but I genuinely loved him. Beyond that I dont really have anything I can think to ask.

the narrator is much less charming and much more repetitive in Crackdown 2

Im going to quote myself here from a post I made a while ago...

Very little has changed from the first. Unfortunately the things that did change are very bad and very annoying. Such as: mandatory, lengthy, and entirely unnecessary tutorial section; poorly rendered, unskippable 5 min. intro cut scene setting up a flimsy and unneeded story; the "handler" chiming in every 30s with completely unhelpful comments; the objective based mission system is extremely repetitive, changing nothing [except how much health the freaks have] between iterations; melee in this game is lackluster to say the least, in Crackdown, round housing an enemy at fully speed sent them ragdolling off into space, in Crackdown 2 they go 5 ft.; a helicopter? wtf is this shit?...
I'd like to add that the game ending cutscene is just as poorly rendered.

as for the specifics on the mission...

you kill 3 under equipped enemy npcs, stand on a thingy for ~45s (repeat x3)

then you go to an underground location, and defend the location from freaks for about ~5min

then you repeat this about 9 times.

then the game ends.

Sorry I am assuming this popped up a few times so my bad on not using the search but to my defense I am running on a 56k at my grandparents.

If you know is the mission setup the same or is it different because that could really be a deal breaker for me.

Edit: Sorry ignore what I just said.. I am rather dissapointed and I might wait for a while until the game is selling for cheaper.. Man I am really depressed. I was kind of hoping for crackdown with neat looking mutants and like mutant leader people idk.

The graphics dont bother me so much. I can swallow some pretty bad looking games if the gameplay is good.

Thanks for the info also. I have about 200 bucks so I was pondering Crackdown 2 and planning on preordering that new vegas collectors edition whenever I get home.

I need to get out of the habit of posting a little bit to get in position, then editing the hell out of it, but yeah the mission setup is very different and if you can believe it, even more repetitive than before.

Ya know I never found the game that horribly repetative. The boss battles were all pretty varied (except maybe the volk but their numbers messed me up bad). This game seems to remind me of Hellgate: London from what I have heard about it so far.
