If this is a screenshot of the show, why the fuck did they choose that one? If that's a pictures they took just for this announcement, why did they choose such awful poses? Christ.
I never thought someone could be miscast due to the shape of their bald head, but... yeah.

Also, all the costuming looks so pristinely accurate it ends up looking fake.

My friend and I had the same thought that this screams "recycled concept". Green Lanterns but they're actual cops with a gritty crime aesthetic isn't a too terrible premise, but one that sticks out like a sore thumb in Gunns' DCU. Especially when we've already seen Guy Gardner in Superman.

Green Lantern is a terrible choice for a television show because the central conceit is insanely expensive to render in live action on a TV budget. I mean I'm all for getting John-Fucking-Stewart on screen cos he's my Green Lantern but I feel I just watched a trailer for a Reacher spin off. And unless the villain of the piece is someone like Despero, to name one example, the sort of corrupt small town bullshit that this trailer presents is something the Hal Jordan and John Stewart - even if he's a trainee - should be wrapping up in one episode, not ten.

Also, and this is nerd picking, I was under the impression that outside of very exigent circumstances, Green Lanterns could not share their rings so that was an odd bit. But, the character and the corps have been around for what, fifty or so years? There's probably a time or two it happened as casually as this. I like the Lantern design though, very nice.

The more I thought about it, having it be some small town crime drama where two fully suited up Green Lanterns are detectives except instead of a team of cops, forensic scientists, and medical examiners, they make do with the most powerful weapon in the universe. No need for expensive action sequences, but you can show them actually being Lanterns.

Well, maybe that's what they're planning. Their clothes don't change much so maybe this is the first episode or two.

Hey, I'll give it a fair shake don't you worry. And you know what, if they prove me wrong then I basically win.

Not "news" necessarily, but definitely explains why despite the plethora of shows and movies out there that I haven't seen, I'd rather watch It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia or The Office again. They're comfortable knowns and don't challenge me during my leisurely downtime. It's like having your best friend come over to hang out versus going out and meeting new people. I've mentioned on here before, but about 17 years ago, I was laid off with a comfortable severance package, but still job uncertainty going forward. I impulse bought the Ocean's 11 DVD having never seen it, and I loved it... so much so that I watched it every day for the next month. It was comforting to me watching Danny and Rusty pull off the impossible heist again and again, night after night, knowing they'd win in the end, and while I was watching that, the uncertainties of the real world took a backseat. To this day, Ocean's 11 remains my favorite movie, and I watch it whenever I'm anxious or the real world gets heavy. It's my binky, my blanky.

I like rewatching certain shows every now and then. But i'm not afraid to try something new or do something interesting. If I just watch the same thing over and over again, i'm just gonna get bored in a different way. Even when I know it's something good and comfortable.

I never liked either version of the Office though. Always Sunny is funny, but I don't have much nostalgia for it.

I used to be a big plot twist aficionado, or in other words be a big fan of movies with intense plotting that you had to pay attention to. Since Fridays growing up was often spent at home watching game shows and DVDs with my parents and siblings, I got a bit annoyed that my mum's movie request was often "Can't we watch something simple? To fall asleep to.".

Nowadays when I have more things on my mind and more responsibilities, I get where she was coming from. We have different needs and wants from our entertainment.

Exactly. As busy and hectic as life can get, "adulting" as they say, sometimes I don't want to sit on the edge of my seat to see what happens next; I'd often much rather lean back in my seat and take in something familiar that I know I love. Now, I don't actively avoid new/unfamiliar stuff, but I prefer it at times in my life when I'm not risking wasting my free time on something I might not enjoy, i.e.: that movie/show sucked AND I have bills due tomorrow? I could have watched Sweet Dee and Dennis get hooked on crack for the 30th time and been perfectly happy!

Something something pot kettle black.
Fuck off Tarantino. Nobody gave you the N-pass. You gave it to yourself and assumed everyone would be okay with it. You're just another white asshole that coasted off a blacks and assume there will be no issues or that nobody would call you out on it still. Spike Lee pegged you since day one. I really don't ever wanna see his films ever again.

I will say that I do see a bit of a double standard in that specific comparison, as both use the term for similar reasons. But that only covered Django Unchained, and maybe to a degree Jackie Brown since that was mostly a direct adaptation of a novel, so I'm not sure how much the usage there was actually Tarantino versus just him being faithful or SLJ throwing it in. Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs on top of those...yeah, it's a pattern for Tarantino at that point, and he should be called out on it.

Korey agrees with you. Though he's always had a problem with Tarantino for a long time.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot/continuation thingy was cancelled.

For those that didn't know they were going to make a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot/continuation thingy, they were doing to make a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot/continuation thingy, but now they aren't.
