I'd take their Playstation 27x19 and their Xbox Super 1640 away, sit them down with original contra and make them beat it with no cheats. Then if they managed that, I would say that their skills from Halo 19 have truly paid off, and they may continue their rainbow coloured bloomfest.
Best Answer by far.

I would probably say something along the lines of "You shut your fucking mouth. I've been a Valve fanboy for 50 long years and you don't tell me some new shitty game developer is going to beat classics like that."
And then you can continue waiting for half-life 2 episode 3....I kid =P

Tell them the truth

"You were an accident, my condom burst whilst me and your mum were in the missionary position"

That'll shut them up

It's funny because there's a big chance of it happening o_O

I'd just say "well dear, grandma finished all the tomb raider games in the time it took you to do one level of halo 19, so maybe its not that good a game? now come eat your damn tea!"
"eat your damn tea?" What kind of solidified tea do you serve at your house grandma?
Yeesh. Tea time that's a common British term for dinner.

I'll tell them that their cruzin for a bruzin.

Then I say Half Life 2 Episode 4 is better than Halo 19. But then I wouldn't actually care I guess so. Half Life 2 will defenetly suck when Halo 19 comes out.
So what you're saying is that a game, that doesn't change a single bit of it's content over the years still manages to lose quality? Odd.

It's sad that i'm keeping some games for my kids to play but I know by the time they're old enough to appreciate them the graphics will be so dated the kids won't even give them a chance.

Can't force them but they're going to be missing out on their heritage.

Bad times.

I will never have this problem.

My dislike of the FPS genre aside, if my child (god forbid I have children) ever talks back, I will punch him in the mouth.
If he does it again, I'll smack him with a 2x4.

He'll learn to shut the fuck up after the second trasngression.
If not, clearly he's too stupid to have come from me.
Hydrochloric acid time?

Nah. Number three is a bullet to the head so I can start over fresh with a new pet kid.
How's he gonna learn anything that way: Slow disfigurement works wonders on the ignorant. Just my 2 cents.

You mean "come drink your damn tea!"?

Personally, I would be throwing my tea in Granny's face at this point. Tomb Raider doesn't hold a candle to Halo 19! erm, I mean the Halo series.

I myself would work to instill values into my kids. For example, Half-life = good, Final Fantasy = bad. (excluding FF7 of course)

The golden years aren't looking good....

I'm seeing some deep-seeded childhood issues.

So, what's going on with Max today?

Hopefully she can respect older games in different ways then she enjoys current ones. Just like her dad.

Are you kidding this is simple I'll just beat my kids with a golf club. But anyway this is a strange idea for me because I mean some of the oldest games are still considered amazing for this time. Super Mario Bros, Mario 64, Zelda OOT, Super Metroid, Megaman, etc. are still considered great games after the 10-20 years they've been out and they will probably still be popular for at least 20 more years right.

My childhood trauma or lack thereof isn't up for discussion, I'm afraid.

My hatred of children should be enough to explain my point of view anyway.
hey, I'm all for hating the kids but.... Oh God! not another change of avatar!

Maybe some things are better left unsaid....

I intend to raise the hypothetical children I don't plan to have on a steady diet of retro consoles so they understand what Nintendo Hard is before I let them anywhere near an updated console. If they want to play Ultra Call of Duty 15 Turbo 4D Remix: Jovian Overlords with mind impulse command interface, they're going to have to earn it. Then we'll discuss what a good game is.
I agree sompletely. I've always imagined raising my kids on the systems I played at their age. I've already made my 5 year old nephew a fan of the NES Mega Man games, and he plays them more than his PSP whenever he comes over. Makes me feel all warm an' fuzzy inside...

One other thing that bothers me about future generations, does anyone else worry that kids in the future won't know about blowing into cartridges? My friends and I all have a "proper technique" to it, and the thought of that being lost to the next set of hatchlings kinda worries me for some dumbass reason...

Also, skip yet another generation ahead, and think of how satisfying it'll be being able to kick your grandkid's ass in "Super Shash Brothers: Close Range Fisticuffs!" and getting the highest score in the old folk's home in Theremin Hero. Truly epic days are ahead of us...
