I've been seeing allot of games trying to be two genres at once, with the most common being FPS/RPG. But let's play with this for a minute and come up with some interesting genre hybrids.

Personally I would like a mixture of a RPG and a Fighting game. It would kind of be like Symphony of the Night with more emphasis on the fighting.

(Those how have not played it, You can pull of a vampire style Hadouken with button presses resembling a fighting fame special attack.)

Somehow mixing FPS and RTS together well. Natural Selection was good, and I'm looking forward to the new one the creators are making. There was some Greeks vs Egyptians (vs Norse?) thing awhile back that sounded like it might be good but every review of it I saw said beware.

I think they tried to do something like that with that canceled Tiberium game.

What about a First Person Shooter mixed with a racing game. With all the vehicle sections in them I think it can be pulled off nicely.

I would say a open world third person shooter with RPG elements, but since Crackdown 2 seems to be doing just that I don't think that counts as new anymore.

It sounds like you're describing Age of Mythology meets Command and Conquer Renegade?

OT: Anything that includes RPG-style stats without being terrible.

Was'nt God Hand like a fighting RPG?
Collecting points, buying combo's and arranging them to suit your own fighting style?
(could be wrong here, since it was'nt a very deep customizing system like an RPG)

But i liked that principle, so a RPG/fighter would be awesome.
With a deeper system off course, and create your own characters.
And online multiplay!

Ah, i can see it now....Chuck Norris firing a Hadouken, while Bruce Willis counters with a Astral Heat...thingie...

The closest thing to a fighter RPG that has a lot of depth to it in both mechanics is Dissidia. You level up characters, learn skills, buy and equip armor and accessories to alter character stats ect... The game is probably to best example of those two genres coming together and creating something made of win and not some horrible mutant child that needs to be put down.

I'm going to have to look that up, but I heard the first one was more of a GTA clone.

Yeah, personally, I want a FPS/RPG that actually focuses on story and character, rather than just running around and shooting crap for xp.

Trade sim/city builders are pretty common, the trade sim/RPG hybrid (Uncharted Waters on the SNES) worked well, and Puzzle Pirates is...well, Puzzle Pirates.

I would love to see an RPG style Fighting game. Kinda like Tales of Symphonia but the battles are street fighter-esque.

Oooh I know!

A Total War game where you could actually fight in! Like dive into the melee and just take control of a soldier and fight it out Oblivion style! No spells though. So an RTS/FPS* kinda thing.

*First-Person Slasher
There was a game like that, except that it was 3rd person, not 1st person. It was called "Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders" for the original Xbox (it also had a few sequels/expansions, if I recall). If you ever get the chance you should check it out; It was actually pretty good.

And I wouldn't mind seeing some text adventure/MMORPG's.

It wasn't so much a GTA clone as it was a combination of Mercenaries and Prototype with leveling and RPG elements. The story was almost non existent, more of a premise. I personally really enjoyed it, but the second one is supposed to have a vastly improved mission structure, story, and battle mechanics. It looks like one of those sequels that recognized the faults of the first game and decided to actually fix them and improve the core gameplay at the same time.

The only first person slasher I know of was Maken X for the Dreamcast, cool premise and an overall fun game.

A Racing/Survival Horror game, you could have Zombies in cars trying to eat you brains.
