What genres (2 or more) of games, put together would make a cool, new, different kind of game?

Ask any of my friends, I am by no means an RPG fan. Or at lest, I thought. I played Fallout 3 some, and enjoyed it. I bought Boarderlands, and like anyone else who plays it, have a blast. I will probably get New Vegas at some point as well. I think this is because they are first person shooters, and aren't made by the Japanese. I love the single player campaigns in CoD, BC, and MoH, but I wish they were longer, and not so straight forward.

My solution: A modern warfare military FPSRPG. Have a huge open world a la Operation Flashpoint 2. Have different missions and operations, from recon to close air support to gathering intel from locals. Different characters such as rifleman, sniper, support gunner, grenadier, etc. Multiple factions that are conflicting in the area. Have each class be better at different missions. The ability to change attachments as nessacary to the mission, such as flashlights, underbarrels, PEQ-2s, optics, ammo, etc. And an arsenal of hardcore gun porn that would make any FPS fans eye twinkel with joy.

So what is your idea? Be detailed!

Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines with the sanbox freedom of GTA. That would fucking rock. Making sure you uphold the masquerade, avoid sunrise, feeding on kain (humans). The potential for this is limitless.

Space sim (or RPS) / FPS, your in a ship or controlling many during a battle, the game pauses whilst you board the enemy vessle for a FPS battle with the enemy, I think it would be quite cool.

RPG/Flight (dogfight) Simulator. Personal rivalries, intense combat... Could be fun!
Might wanna check out Heroes In the Sky, I have a few friends who play it. It's a free to play game with World War dog fights and you can upgrade your planes and level up and junk. Probably the closest thing I can think of to that RPG/Flight sim combo.

Schweet! I will check it out sometime. Freedom Wings for the DS was kind of like that except that it was only single player.

Yea this is sort of like a free to play MMO, you can team up with other people to complete missions and there is also PvP if you wanna take a break from Co-op.

Giant mecha + sports game = awesome. (alternatively, giant monsters. Or both)

Imagine if you will, a hail-Mary pass at the end of the 4th quarter, the receiver makes a desperate flying dive-tackle for the ball and overshoots. Boom. The Empire State Building is now rubble. Tell me you wouldn't play a game like that.

Make the Ball a naval Destroyer and you've captured my interest.

I'll do you one better, it's a giant nuclear Grif-ball. Meaning that at the end of every match, it explodes and wipes out the entire playing field.

Damn it, I knew someone would ninja a similar thread like mine :(
(altough that is about game mergings and not entire genres)
but still!

I want to see somebody combine a Zombie Apocalypse and an MMO.

Don't point me towards Dead Frontier or Urban Dead. Urban Dead has no actual "game". It's just buttons. And Dead Frontier was fairly decent actually.

But I want a fully fledged MMO.

Sorry. There are a lot of good ideas here though. Hopefully this thread doesn't die.
