I'm sick of these parents who use games as a scapegoat to make up for the fact that they lack in parenting skills, and keep firearms within arms reach of their child who was obviously a complete psychopath.

Wait, they're throwing tons of games into a big pile and just leaving them there?

Holy crap! Free stuff!

I'm not handing over any games.

Don't wait for me to say I'm sorry, I won't.
Who wants to be a green MP? I don't.

(I'll be surprised if anyone gets that one but it seems appropriate.)

Maybe I should go there, to volunteer to get rid of the collected videogames (read: put them on Ebay and keep some for myself).

Shame I don't live in Germany. Otherwise I'd totally go there and "confiscate" some of the games so that they "don't fall into the wrong hands".

I call upon gamers in Germany to get off the couch and protest these morons, we shall see who has the greater number of protesters. Video games don't make people kill people, a combination of everything does.
Only real reason to go there would be to stop mean parents from stealing their kids games from them. Everyone esle is not going to participate.

I haven't heard of anything here in Canada about crazies trying to ban games. although there could be some little group somewhere making an effort. you just need a lot of money (more than a little group like this could muster) to start any kind of campain like that here, with how large our country and spread apart our population is.

and anyway, almost every major city in Canada has a big games studio, and a number of small ones... they supply employment and pay taxes, an industry our local goverments wouldn't want to see gone.
Phew. I'm glad ONE of my backup countries is still ok. Tell me, are there Lucky Charms, and/or Lucodade in Canada?

Yeah, but Ireland is game tolerant and enjoyably insane. No book or game burning! Also,we are the greenest nation on earth! You'll have to leave the country to find non-greenness!

...and not-so-long-ago Dalai-Lama's Second in Command(crap, I forgot his name) said that he approves violent video games, as a method of releasing stress.

What about SAW movies, where people are tortured in horrific ways that make any game look like Digimon?

What about Hostel movies, where we see a woman cutting off a mans penis with a pair of garden clippers?

No? Well you have no right just because you saw your son playing a game with some violence before he went off and murdered a group of people. I think that's ignorant, and I also think you'll find it's deeper than that. What games did Jack the Ripper play other than stab the teacher when he was young? NONE, he was just a psycho, and killed people BECAUSE HE WAS TOTALLY MENTAL. He didn't just decide to do it because he played a game of Halo. You see? People have been doing fucked up things long before video games even existed.

As cruel as it sounds but I think the real reason for the school shooting in Winnenden (that's why this will be done) died in the shooting. Same goes for columbine or other Rampages.

Christ you people over react way too much. You act as if the protesters had marched into someone elses house and taken all of their games against their will. In this thread most of the posts contain a string of expletives and whining about how ignorant they all are, but quite frankly reading this thread has made me lose more faith in the people on the escapist than the people who are taking part in this protest.

I want Germany to pass the law banning violent videogames. We need at least one country in the world that can be used to run mass social experiments with.
About the protest: Awesome. This is like protesting against porn.

Its always the same:
Some fanatic group wants another minority banned, because they dont truly understand them.
more like they don't give a rats ass about anything other than themselves and still want to feel like there doing something for their cause without going against anyone who might be beneficial to them.

Oh the Irony, everything they try do make us less violent eventually creates more tension and aggression.
