In this day and age, a lot of people have a secret desire - to be famous. In fact, many people have dedicated their lives... to getting famous. It's not the how that bothers them - they'll try anything they can think of - but it's being in the spotlight.

Do you want to be famous? What do you want to be famous of? Do you have an end-game plan where you become the ruler of the world?

Yes, before you ask, I plan to take over the world, with my loyal assistant Pinky.

...and when you get there, do you think you'll be happy?

I used to dream of super-stardom, but as I've matured I think I've come to realise that it comes with just as many, if not more, pitfalls than it does advantages (not that I wouldn't still get a kick out of all the hookers and blow).

As a great man Willem Defoe once said: "The only thing people love more than a hero, is to see a hero fail." I could do without that stress in my life.

That said, I still crave, if not fame, then I guess 'recognition'. When I'm gone, I want to be remembered as somebody who contributed to the human experience in a valuable way. I want something I made, something that carries my name, to still be experienced and enjoyed long into the future. That, I think, is the closest anyone can ever possibly get to immortality. During my lifetime? I think I'd prefer to be respected and appreciated by a smaller group of my peers, than loved my the many for something superficial.

No, I think it's a detestable and self-centered "goal" to have. Doing well and doing good is all that should really concern people, because when it comes down to the line, that's all that's really going to matter to them.

Pros: the money, the women, the lifestyle

Cons: lack of privacy

It seems pretty tempting and to be honest a lambourgini and a bus load of smoking hot women sounds good. I could do without the lack of privacy but what you gonna do. Im not one for self gratification or showing off. I just want a lambo and a supermodel

Being famous for being famous...no.

Having magic shapeshifting powers and turning myself into the perfect likeness of a famous person whenever I wanted...I'd do really well at karaoke.

I certainly don't want to work in a factory or some other soul draining project just to spend my pay on material excess or drugs to compensate for the attached misery.

I don't want to be some performer playing for a scene he stopped believing in years ago either, without substance, just perpetuating their trendy way of life.

I would like to articulate my thoughts in a way that's useful for others. Not to get famous, but so I can feel like I've left the better part of myself behind. Egotistical? Hope not. Probably is.

What would you like to be famous of, then? Is there something you love doing you want to be the best in, or A well known practitioner?

Not really. But being good enough at something to become well known is another matter, unfortunately i have no talents and it doesn't look like i'll be inventing a cure for cancer in the near future.

I'd love to be able to make a living off youtube or independent game development. Unfortunately to do either you need a degree of fame. Honestly it's the ability of having a profitable job I love and want to do that I can work on and control that allures me as opposed to fame.

Not attractive at all.

If my "sphere of awareness" went to more than, say a thousand people, I think I'd snap. IRL, I'm a bit of a people-pleaser, and it's hard enough pleasing three people at the same time, let alone thousands.

I don't wanna be famous exactly but I'd like to be a writer or in a band but for either of those to get you anyway you need to be sorta famous so yeah. Being famous for the sake of being famous seems pretty hollow to me, I'd never feel like I deserved it and I'd never want to be Brad Pitt level famous, nothing in your life would be private.

I admit, I would liked to be famous mainly the money side of it but in saying so, I got no talent or a specific trait that is worth getting famous for. In saying so there are people who are talentless but are famous so maybe getting famous isn't that hard.

(Before you asked, if I can choose something to be famous for then I guess my fantasy world would be I will finally able to draw out my creations and make a webcomic/ graphic from it novels which would put me at the most, famous comicbook artist/ story writer status of fame).

I would love to get all the money, blow and fast cars from getting famous, but I don't think I could handle all the pressure from the media expecting me to be some paragon of virtue. Even if I was famous, the only thing I would want to do is be by myself and be on the internet.

Oh glob! If I'm going to be famous, I would rather be famous for writing a book series that people keep clamoring on about how it should be turned into some kind of movie and/or TV series, preferably 2D hand-drawn [layered] animated...

However, having superstar status would suck for me in this day and age because I would have to surrender to the "social network deities", which is not really something I'm willing to commit to even if I could hire someone to do that for me, anyway... Then again, I could appear on Dancing With The Stars... or something along those lines...

Fuck it... Still not worth it... (yet?)

But do you want to be famous for a book series you never finished, or get death mail for not being quick enough in writing the next book?

Social Network Deities? What is this, American Gods?

Nothing in particular, but you know that guilty pleasure you get from singing along with rubbish pop songs that you might not admit to in front of your friends?

That, only moreso.
