what was your worst ganking in any game?

mine was when i was playing wow, minding my own business, and then there is a lv 75 rouge comes out of nowhere and stun locks me and I am powerless to get out of it. I had previously used my Insignia of the Horde (which gets rid of all movement imparing effects) and was left standing there left to die.

I just wanted to know what "ganked" meant, still not quite sure but I think I get the drift, I don't know, getting to pilot a banshee for the first time in Halo 3 and being stuck with a plasma grenade before I could even get off the ground?

Whenever I play multiplayer shooters with my friend and he gets the drop on me, he frequently taunts me over the mike BEFORE killing me. Grr.

As for completely random stuff, I've had two interesting experiences with plasma sticking on Narrows in Halo 3. Once I got into a man-cannon, and as I came down for the landing, I saw someone else get into the opposite cannon, so I threw a grenade and stuck him as we flew past each other. The second time I only saw on replay, but I was in the match as it happened. Somebody on the bridge threw a plasma at my friend, but he misjudged the distance and it went into the man-cannon, got sent backwards, and stuck someone coming the other way. Priceless.

Ganked mean when you're overthrown by a enemy. A enemy that is so good/strong that you have no possibility to kill him. Pretty much the same as being owned

Well in that case I vote we kill this word now, look what happened with "owned", started as owned, then became ownd, then somewhere along the line it turned into pwnd, the maddness has to end.

I think we need a little definition fun here...

Ganked:When a group of people kill a single opponent.
ie. "I got ganked in a 1v3 team death match."

Pwnd, own, owned:A player kill (player owned).
ie. "I just pwnd that noob."

I'm choosing to use this definition of ganked.

In a Condemned 2, CSI match, I was on the homeless team. If you've never played, the homeless team has two boxes of evidence. The cops are trying to find and scan the evidence, and everyone is out to kill the opposing team. I took my box and my trusty sledgehammer, and hid in a meat locker. If the cops came in to scan it, I'd have them in close quarters for a couple seconds, increasing my chances of killing them. The rest of my team was dead, and I wasn't sure how many opposing team members were alive. I thought I saw a flashlight outside, so I peaked around the corner and got hit with the following:
- a molotov
- another sledgehammer
- a shotgun blast
- a dinky pistol bullet

Back in the lobby, the first sounds heard were laughter from the opposing team, and me saying "Who the hell just killed me?"

I can still remember the first time someone did an anti-gank to me, a alliance man approached me, level 30, him level 55, whilst I was attacking a silver dragoned elite in 1000 needles who went with a questline I was on, and, instead of killing me this alliance shaman took out all the enemies with a few lightening bolts, I was well and truely chuffed, and from that day I said that I would never gank again

Well it's safe to say that didn't last, but I don't spend hours of my time ganking whilst touching myself to someone elses misery.

No, completely wrong. Okay, not completely. Put the point being is that it doesn't have to be several people killing one opponent. It can just as easily be one superior versus one less superior -.-

Oh, well after reading the definition of ganking...

Just last night, I was playing Rainbow Six Vegas 2 with two friends on versus. One of my friends was running around and getting lucky headshots on me every time I ran into him. Literally every time...I wish I was kidding. I'd run around a corner, get a couple of shots off, and *pop* I'm dead as he swings around and fires two shots. Keep in mind he's using light machine guns or the M8.

This happened about 10 times in one match.

Ah, I get ganked a lot on Soulstorm. Mainly because I play as Eldar or Imperial Guard and I'm spread out across the entire battlefield thereby increasing my defence (it's much harder to track down 5 hidden bases in the far corners than it is to attack and wipe out one single base). My allies, however, always, ALWAYS choose the "attack in a suicide charge with a massive army" option, which means a few of the enemy can attack their bases easily and wipe them out. Which leaves me as the tactical smart player stuck alone against 3 or 4 massive enemy armies. I can usually take out one or two of them, but I almost always lose by sheer force of numbers crushing me. Which is silly because I'm the one who actually knows how to play the game, and my allies simply use the same (crap) tactic over and over again, even though they know it doesn't work because it always fails...

Gank (as used in modern gaming)is a contraction of Gang kill. Pwn would be more of a skilled vs unskilled player. But whatever they are just made up words.

Oh really? My expereince in MMO's tended to mean any massively unfair fight, so a single lvl 70 dude in the beginning area murdering noobs in PVP areas for the lulz would be ganking (and damn fun actually, Ican totally sympathise with the evil bastards)

When you put it like that, it makes very much sense. Wich is odd, because I've heard so many refer to it otherwise ..

I mean. Even in the original post it's referred to it as what I explained it =P
