getting into dungeons and dragons

hey guys, i love baldurs gate and similar crpgs and ive seen hilarious stories from people who have played D&D so im wondering, how easy is it to get into? no one from my area seems to play it and none of my mates would really be interested in it seeing as im the geeky one of the group, anyone know how i can get into it? also, if you wish, tell us your funny D&D stories

There are programs and the like to play D&D and other RPGs online. There's also plenty of people online who would play. There's a small barrier, as there's a lot of rules, but overall, it's pretty easy to get into. Just verify which edition of the rules people are playing by, as they're all vastly different. 4th Edition (4e) is the most noob friendly, and the most current, but 3.5 is the most popular atm.
