Since all this Starcraft hype has reminded me, I have a bunch of RTS games for PC but none actually on my computer, and I really think I should change that, and pick one and load it up, or maybe even get a new one.

I have Sins of a Solar Empire, which kind of feels like a mix between Civ and Empire at War; Red Alert 3, which is...well Red Alert 3, silly unit, silly actors, fun gameplay; Dawn of War 2, which is more of a RTS RPG, taking place in the Warhammer 40k universe; and..while it doesn't count exactly, Blood Bowl, which can be played as a RTS or a Turn based Strategy game, is a Warhammer style game, only with football which involves beating your opponents to death, using magic to launch fireballs at the quarterback, or even bribe the ref.

And before I say anything else, no, I do not want Starcraft or SC2. My brother tried to get me into it..but I just couldnt..it just didnt catch me for some reason.

So what do you think Escapists? Try out one of the titles I stated again, or find something else/recommend something to me?

Torchlight. The strategy's pretty much pulling a few levers between beating the crap outta stuff - but it kills time like a pro.

I suggest Total Annihilation or Supreme Commander.
The above are great for large-scale straight RTS.

Age of Empires is a cute smaller one, and very fun played multiplayer.

Tropico is my new favourite. Be a South American dictator! Drill for oil, commit electoral fraud, rob your people, scam tourists!

Otherwise, try out some of the earlier Command and Conquer games. I have #3; Tiberian Wars, and it's good fun.

And finally... for FREE, look up Warzone 2100. A very good RTS with user-built content.

I have to go for Red Alert 3. Pretty solid gameplay, and Tim Curry as the guy in charge of the Russians. Greatest thing ever.

...Well maybe second greatest thing ever, because Gemma's costume is pretty damn great too... But ahem! Anyway. Behind all the acting and costumes there is still a very solid game to play, so install that bad boy!

RTSs and no mention of Company Of Heroes? Blasphemy!

Company Of Heroes. Extremely Fun WW2 themed RTS

Dawn of War (+winter assault & Dark Crusade) are awesome for the sheer carnage of it all (ENEMIES! WE NEED ENEMIES!). For lulz, go with Dawn of War: Soulstorm. You too can now have METAL BAWKSEZ!

The Red Alert series is good for some fun though.

Hmmm, lets see, what else could I add to the list. I really enjoyed Rise of Nations.

And of course you can't go wrong with the Age of Empires series, especially 2.

Don't forget you can also play with the SPESS MEHRENS!
