I swear i'm the only one who's optimistic about them actually using more voice actors + this. Means they're trying to make NPC's likable again.
I hadn't heard that bit of news. But it certainly is something to be happy about. Anyone who played Oblivion for at least two hours knows how ridiculously few voice actors they used (I hated the voice actor for male Orcs). I just hope Bethesda actually gives some of them some charisma for once.

As for marriage...eh, go ahead. If it excites some people, why not go with it. I don't see me being that interested in it, though.

Marriage is a bad idea in real life, why would fictional be any different?
I'll do it, just to vent my frustrations by setting the house on fire afterwards, with her in it.

Take that psychological manifestation of my greedy, selfish, delusional ex-girlfriend! I hate your parents!

well i'm interested but as i always play as female i want my character to find a wife! so hope for gay marriage!
Lol! Gay people didn't exist in the past. Read Greek and Roman history and you'll see. /sarcasm

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't there an NPC in Morrowind that you pretty much married after doing all her quests? Still, I'm quite happy with this in the game! I also don't know how I'm going to decide between an Argonian and Khajiit...

World Exclusive! Dovahkiin speaks out!

In a recent interview, Skyrim saviour the Dovahkiin himself, revealed his reasons for undertaking the many perilous quests that lead to his eventual success. Many had believed the stout warrior was guided by destiny. Loyalty to his country and the late Emperor were also common theories. Some few even believed he had done it for fame or gold. But the Black Horse Courier has learned the truth from the noble warrior himself: "I had to do something" he said, "to get out of the house."

- Ra'jiradh, Urjabhi and Hassiri.
And now you got me wondering: How will DIVORCES work in Skyrim?

Hey this will be....sorta neat...

The people in Fable were annoying so I married like 3-4 in boredom...

Now I can have a wife in my megamansion I scrapped enough gold to buy from some jerk....Although the one lady from Rosethorn Hall was kinda nice...and the NPCs that lived in Battlethorn (the DLC home) were all.....amusing...nothing like having your own small army and such

One question pops up in my head

"Why would you?"

Okay I know it's a ROLEPLAYING Game. (and yes I say that with a straightface, as it offers all the possibilities to do so. Wich I happily make use of.)

The same option was in Fable I - III but what did it actually add?
Not so much really, or that is my opinion.
It's a genuine question, why would we get married?

To speak with a greedy persons voice: "What's in it for us?"
Marriage can be a good option however, what are the results & effects?
Social status? Dowries? 'Special' dialoge options (a la fable censorship?) or what?

"Why would you?"
because i can. If i meet pretty woman while travelling i say why not. don't care about benefits. i just hope npc will not be like in fable copypasta versions.

What would make you think that not like the Dragon would go to your house and kill your wife/husband while you were not there..... I see your point.

As long as there is a bit of substance to it (unlike in Fable), I'm all for.
This. It's not a bad idea at all, everyone's just got a bad taste in their mouth from how incredibly mechanical and shallow the system was in Fable. There are also the people who don't think a minor focus on personal relationships has any place in games, but that's always seems like a very narrow-minded and short-sighted view to me.

And given that it's a Bethesda RPG, I'm pretty happy knowing that they'll probably be pretty balanced with regard to gender and sexuality (-cough-Crassius-cough-).

Is there a possibility of one night stands? What would the etiquette be there?

This seems to have gotten a lot of people going over the issue of romance and relationships in games, I really hope Bethesda Deliver on this.

I don't think that marriage would be on the top of his agenda, no. That said, I have to ask; when has marriage as an added feature in a game EVER been a good idea. Especially in action or adventure games. There's just not any love because there is nothing that anywhere near simulates the real feelings involved in something like this. <_<

That said; as long as I don't have people walking around with floating rings above their heads asking for "a ring to make 'it' more official" I'm happy. I'm looking at you Fable trilogy. ¬_¬

Life simulation in games, at least in it's most basic form will lead on to a better level of immersion. If Bethesda work out the kinks and it isn't compulsory, i think they could take a step towards this level.

I will probably do it, regardless of ability to disregard it or if there is no reward for it, simply to see how it will affect my story.

It's a fan interview. Number seven.

As for the feature, I say great. Anything to add depth to the empty, boring shells that were Oblivion's NPC's.
I personally love the answer to number 25

25) Will you be able to carry on after the main story?
Todd: Yes, absolutely.

:D

So happy!! :D

Hey, as long as it's handled better than in Fable, as in marrying characters who have actual character, then I'm fine with it. Some of the companions in Fallout: New Vegas were really interesting and likeable despite having relatively little dialogue. It wouldn't take much to assign a little more dialogue to companion characters.

I'm not saying it's going to be the best thing ever or even have that much of an effect on the game or even that the romance mechanics will be any good, but, hey, what's an RPG without at least having the options to do more stuff. I think it would be hilarious if you could solve a quest by seducing a character, marrying them and suddenly owning all their stuff. That would be a badass character to play, and give real merit to the personality and speechcraft stats. Why shouldn't you be able to acquire wealth by marrying rich people?

It's nice that marriage is an option, I guess. I just have a hard time seeing why you would want to. Won't you be busy -- you know -- killing dragons?
If my spouse leaves me because I was too busy saving the world (ahem, Fable), so help me...

As long as my Argonian character doesn't spawn Zerglings with his waifu like my HERO OF ALBION did in Fable 2, and they don't introduce a joke STD system (Unprotected sex in Fable 2 was a coin-toss, if you lost more STDs) like Fable 2...

Basically they just make me give a damn about the characters, like the way I cared for the girl whose dead husband wanted you to make her happy in Fable 2: she seemed real enough to surprise me until the quest was over and I saw fifty more of her.

Er...

If Bethesda makes it so I can romance my companions or key characters that they pick out, fine. If it's Peter Molyneux's way of marriage, then no. The game will suffer if they take lessons from Peter Molyneux.
