Getting my ass kicked

I'm having a bit of a Magic crisis. I know, in retrospect not that big of a problem but still. I'm sorta... really poor and and have no money to buy 4-5 copies of the same rares or mythics in magic. Every time I go to FNM, I get my ass kicked by the people who can. So my questions are: Can you win with mostly uncommon/common cards with a few rares and mythics like me? If not should I just give up playing? I really love to play Magic, but if it's really not possible to win, it just feels so meaningless.

Yes it is. Depends on what kind of a deck you're playing.
You could go for a blue/white deck. If I remember correctly, then they aren't that hard to make.

I have a few friends that steal lots of these magic cards because they can't afford them. They tell me k-mart and wal-mart have low security. Btw I'm not advising you personally. I also hear their are magic card video games, these sometimes can be a cheaper alternative in the long run.
