So heres my problem. My Grandpa has toasted almost every computer he has. I've Frankenstein'd up a new(With very limited knowledge and resources) one for him but its really only a temporary solution. He wants to get a new computer. Since he doesn't know much about them he wants me to help pick one out. What would be a good computer for someone who has limited knowledge and limited needs. He needs a computer for Taxes and e-mail.

So I was thinking a mac because what I think I know about them is that its a bit simpler to use and lot less hard to mess up. I don't know much about them but I figured that with a mac he won't need me to be the resident I.T. But since I've never really used a Mac I want to know if this is the case. Because I don't want to end up getting something complicated that I myself would know about. So any suggests or info would help a lot. Please and thank you!

Look, all computers are capable of being screwed up. And if your grandpa isn't tech savvy, you're going to be his resident I.T. regardless because he's going to feel "out of his element".

That said, Mac OSX is fairly safe because of Apple's philosophy of "don't let the user fuck with stuff". If you don't mind shelling out the cash, it might be worth a shot.

However, if he's been a windows user, which I'm guessing he has, then Mac OSX is gonna be ANOTHER difficult transition for the tech incompetent.

So really, there isn't a right answer to this. I'd say, get him a cheap one and replace it when it breaks.
