I have been yearning for a good point and click adventure game to help blow off some steam from all my university classes and I have heard of the game Myst before but never really gave it all that much attention. It peaked my intrest enough when I looked at a review that I want to play it but all I have is a gateway laptop running windows 7 and a google search yielded nothing easily downloadable. I'm not a computer handy person and I would rather not download some extra programs just to run the game. My questions for the escapist universe are:

1. Any ideas how I can get this game on my laptop without too much hassle and extra downloads? I don't mind paying.

2. I see how this might be next to impossible with how old the game is, so does anyone have some other similair style games to suggest that I could get to scratch this rather annoying point and click adventure itch?

You can get a copy of realMyst on Steam for $6. It's the same as the original Myst but in realtime 3D instead of point-and-click, and with better graphics and a bonus Age to solve. You can also find the original Myst as an app in the iTunes store.

(Riven is my favorite of the series, but the Steam version is buggy as hell.)

Unfortunately, I haven't found any good games that are similar to the Myst series in about 15 years of looking.

If you don't want RealMyst because you actually want Point-n-Click, Steam also has Myst Masterpiece (essentially, the original).

I say play it. Riven is better, but Myst is the definition of a "classic game".

Then, if you still want more, play the rest of the series. It's point-n-click until the last entry (the fifth).

Uru and Uru Live aren't point-and-click either, but a lot of people don't consider them to be part of the Myst series. For whatever reason. I love them.

I do as well, but I don't mention them when I talk about Myst because they aren't numbered and barely anyone remembers they exist.
