I remember the very very old Batman Cartoon..where Bruce Wayne was still cool (and young) and the Joker..well he was just nuts basicly. I even remember when Pokemon came out for the very first time o_O..actually i even somewhat remember watching Captian Future and Thundercats when i was younger o.o

I also recently replayed Loom CD Version (because i dont have the original anymore)..god i feel really old. Still, im not even 30 yet and i can remember that far back, and now, whenever i turn on the tv, theres seriously only shitty movies, crappy "anime" which dont even qualify as that..so yeah, feels like ages ago now

Nintendo is 120 years old.
holy kak! Your right!

Nintendo apparently started selling "flower" cards. A sort of form of top trumps.

Meh getting old is not really my concern, but it begs the question, are all of us still going to be gaming at 60 odd and will we have kept up with the gaming community?

Just the other day I was talking about the Dreamcast and other old games/systems to my cousin and he didn't know what any of it was. I felt really old. :[

All those people comparing Obama to Hitler.
You gotta be shitting me.

OT: Seems like yesterday I watched the first few episodes of Beast Wars on TV. More and more folks on the web have no clue what I'm on about when I talk about it, and then I remember that the show debuted in 1996.
... I need my walking stick.
I'm not: Obama and Hitler [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.132387?page=2#3088348].

There you go.

Oh, Animaniacs. Without a doubt, one of the most clever shows ever. And even old people laugh, it's not the random-is-funny bullshit thrown at kids (Though it is, at times.), it's a real clever, quality script.

Plus, there are songs. That teach stuff. Like how big the universe is.

Seriously, if anyone knows where I can find full episodes of this and Invader Zim, I will shoot you in the face if I am not told where.
Ah, Animaniacs, one the best cartoons ever! The missus and I have The Nations of the World burned off in the car. We played it on repeat for a half hour one time, trying to get all the countries.

It was Pokemon I believe.
The worrying thing for me is I'm not sure whats worse. The fact that I played pokemon when it 1st came out (I was 14) or I'm still playing it now.
Keep playing. If you stop maturity wins.

BOO!

Hi-ho, do ya know, the names of the US residents who then became the presidents and got a view from the white house loo on Pennsylvania Avenue!

And we know where it goes from there.

I remember when Nickelodeon had quality programming like Double Dare, Ren and Stempy and Rugrats.
Same here, and also Doug, Rockos modern life, Pete and Pete, Hey Dude and Salute your shorts and all those other shows that programming today just doesn't hold a candle to. My friends and I are convinced that the meaning to life is hidden somewhere in these old shows.

With the recent threads on how cartoons are becoming lame from some of the teenagers...When was the first time you commented on something only to find out the person you had been talking to couldn't have possibly known about it?

Just as a matter of fear:
House M.D. is 5 years old,
Pokemon is 10 years old,
Mr Plough on The Simpsons is 17 years old,
The Simpsons itself is 20 years old,
The Legend of Zelda is 23 years old,
Pacman is 29 years old,
Scooby Doo is 40 years old,
Nintendo is 120 years old.
What a wonderful fucking birthday present for me, Root, as if I didn't feel old enough already.

I keep seeing people reference games on floppy drives as making them feel old-- am I the only guy here old enough to remember TAPE drives??

Schoolhouse Rock?

polyester??

Green CRTs??

I think I'm going to have to go to my party tonight and attempt to drink myself to death now.

The currency-switch in Ireland happened almost 9 years ago. That's sort of weird.
I miss the old Pound coins..

Computer programs use to run off floppy-disc, not hard-drives. I remember putting in the disc to whatever game I wanted to play, typing "run", and then going outside to play for an hour, just hoping the game would be loaded by the time I came back inside. That's when the console was a greater gaming platform because at least with the Atari all you had to do was put the cartridge in the slot and flip the power switch.
Oh god...I remember some games used to come with up to 10 floppy discs, and there I was loading them in one after another just to do the install. And in mid-game sometimes, you'd still have to change discs.

I also made a He-Man/She-Ra reference the other day only to have the kid in question (she was about 16, maybe 17), look at me in confusion, having never seen or so much as heard of the show.
Well I'm not quite that old, But I do remember all the DOS commands. Thank God for DOSbox.
c:/cd d:/
setup.exe
that's how we installed games.

I grew up with wolfenstein 3d and Doom. My first cd-rom drive was a 1s, that you had to take the container out of the drive, put the cd in the container, then place it back in. It was a pain.

Floppy discs were numerous, as were tapes for the tape drives. Never used the tape drive myself.
Even had a 5 1/4. Also known as the B drive.

They never knew a lot of the stuff.... I'm only 24!! *sobs*
Yes, I know. Bet they don't even know what DOS is. Microsoft still uses, and will always use DOS as the basis for whatever current windows system there is.

I remember the day I got my NES. Even though in 91 the SNES had come out, It was my first console, along with the oddysey 2.

Arkanoid on the top down arcade machines with the twist controls. And does anyone remember Ikari Warriors? Seriously! I had this for the Atari 520ST and no one seems to remember it.

And some more for good measure:
Treasure Island Dizzy
Carrier Command
Robocop The Movie and the game
Police Academy when steve guttenberg was cool
Flight of the Navigator
Willow

And Wizard, does anyone else remember this film.

Friggen hell this made me feel so old! That is HORRIFYINGLY scary! o_o
Upon looking back at our first few posts i came across this one which was done before i joined (though at the time i was looking over A.Wabbit's shoulder in class but never got around to posting on it when i signed up). Now looking back i decided to post seeing as all these things are almost ANOTHER year older. Seeing as our 19th birthdays are coming up, now i really do feel old. God i still remember when Pokemon first came out. How is it that nearly 11yrs has passed?

Finally, people from my generation. When I talk about Thundercats, Bucky O'Hare and Freakazoid! my friends tend to look at me like I'm crazy.
