Ok, so thanks to my roomies my bathroom has a lot of mold, mostly on the ceiling and around the soapdish in the shower.

The mold on the ceiling is tiny dark grey spots that is heaviest above the shower and in the corner where I can't reach. The mold around the soapdish is almost black and solid.

I've tried using a bleach pen for the soapdish, but that hasn't made much of a difference, and I've used a bathroom cleaner on both that works a bit better, but there's still mold left.

Sooo... any ideas on how to get rid of it? It's gross as shit and I'm allergic to mold.

Capatcha: it's super delicious!

NO IT'S NOT CAPATCHA, IT'S GROSS AS SHIT!

You could try airing the room out more, since it's the damp that's cause the mold to grow.

Chances are you're gonna have to call a professional to get rid of it. Sometimes the mold is also in the attic or in the gaps between the walls as well.

Then you need to buy some waterproof paint, or special paint so mold won't start growing back again.

That's what I had to do anyway.

I recommend fire. Lots of it. Vacate the premises and tov the place.

Genuine advice, ditch the bleach pen, get a spray bottle instead. Fill with bleach+water(unsure of ratio), spray them on the walls and give them a good scrub/wipe

Had a problematic mold corner in my old room. Got rid of it by first spraying and wiping with hydrogen peroxide, then white vinegar solution and finally bleach solution.

Two main ways to get of mold: Bleach water or hot water and soap.

I'd reccomend getting some thick rubber gloves on, and get a bucket fll of near scalding soapy water and scrub the mold with a course brush. The, just wash some bleach water over it so it doesn't grow back from the corners. Rinse the bathroom and you're good

Is it like, black spots on the wall? Because if it is, the good news is that it's not the same kind of mold that makes people sick. That stuff is more like a slimy black goo. Anyway, soap and water is all you really need to clean it, at least in order to kill it and keep it from spreading. However, even once it's dead it leaves stains, which you can get rid of with bleach. Easiest way to do it is to thoroughly wet your sponge with water, and get a little bit of bleach on it by covering the bottle's opening with the sponge (to limit the amount. You don't want to just pour it out on the sponge). Then just wipe it down and let the bleach do its job. You might want to rinse the residue off when you're done.

Edit: I need to stop skimming OPs. What you described around the soap dish is kind of worrying, but what you described elsewhere is only really a problem because you're allergic to mold in general.

as a person who's house he lived in as a child ended up being condemned due to ridiculous amounts of mold, I'll just leave this right here

Whether you use bleach or vinegar, I suggest that you use paper towels or tissues to bandage up the area so that the liquid chemical stays on the mold effected area without dripping and washing away until it penetrates the mold to its roots.

Wash (ideally with anti-mold stuff), bleach, repaint with mold-resistant stuff, encourage air circulation and you should be golden.

There's some very good anti-mould spray you can get (in the UK) at least. You know you've got the good stuff if you used it in a badly-ventilated area and it removes all the skin from the inside of your mouth, nose and throat.

In general, prevention is easier than cure. When we first moved into our current flat, the walls were all beautiful and white. After a month, the bathroom and bedroom were growing black mould that needed to be washed off every week to prevent build-up. Then we bought a dehumidifier, which has almost completely solved the problem. With the mould growth under control, we painted over the few bits of mould we hadn't been able to get rid of (after liberally dousing with anti-mould spray to make sure it was dead).

All of the above, then keep the goddamn bathroom door open during showers and don't let it sit closed during the day. Best thing you can do to avoid mold is have air flow. Not saying leave the door open when you get out of the shower, but leave it cracked while you shower and run the fan. It's there for a reason. Then leave the door open 24/7 unless you're going to the bathroom.

Hot water and soap/bleach, gloves, and a hell of a lot of scrubbing is theonly way to fix it. If you own the place, get proper water resitant drywall/sheetrock stuff. If you don't, clean is at best you can (and the rest of the place, so it doesn't look like you're all filthy people) and contact the landlord.

If you can, keep the windows to your place open, too. Airflow does wonders. Really.

I really wish I could. Not only do the roomies always close the door when no one is in there, if the door is left open, then the door to the dopehead's room is blocked, and he pitches a fit whenever that happens. Also, the bathroom doesn't have a window.

Onto the other advice, can't do the paint since that would be pricey (roomies won't even chip in for milk, how could I get them to chip in to repaint the bathroom?), and the landlord doesn't want us repainting the place. Can't set the place on fire/nuke it because the boyfriend 'wants a place to live in' or some crap like that. The various spray methods however, seem to be doable, so I'll start there.
