i had a couple questions first...

1. is half-life 2 still worth getting? and would i have to get episode 1 and episode 2 after that?

2. i had left 4 dead 2 on my 360 and was wondering if left 4 dead is still popular online.

i had a mac so that is why my choices are somewhat limited.

From my experience, L4D and L4D2 pretty much both have a large number of players around. I haven't played in ages though.

Half-Life 2 was good. I didn't play either of the episodes and I've never felt the need to, but Half-Life 2 is definitely worth the money.

I first played Half Life 2 last December (I'd earlier been avoiding Steam) and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Some bits, like the physics, feel a bit gimmicky but at the time they were much fresher so I understand.

In my opinion Episodes 1&2 are even better than Half Life 2 itself, so if you get HL2 I strongly suggest getting the episodes.

1: Go for it, as Half-Life 2 will ALWAYS be worth it. And yeah, I usually start with part one of a franchise. In short, it's definitely worth the money.

2: Sorry but I haven't played Left 4 Dead 2 online.

Captcha: from ectisi ... What are you implying HUH!?

Episodes are really good, so get them as well.
And yeah, L4D(2) is still big. There's a new campaign coming out and they're even brining over the Dead Air campaign for L4D1.

The episodes are like they made half a game with Half Life 2 and the second half of the game comes in the form of episodes. And yes, they are definitely worth it.

They're a bit of both. They continue the story from the very second the prior game left off, while still putting their own spin on the Half-Life 2 formula. Episode 1 focuses more on indoor, survival-horror-esque action, while Episode 2 is much more open, with more driving and huge, wide-open set pieces.

This tripped me up for a while, too. I'll try to summarize: There's Half-Life 2, and Episode 1 follows on from that, and Episode 2 from that.

OT: I personally thought Half-Life 2 was great; I've never really played Left 4 Dead, so I can't speak for that.

In my opinion hl2 is not a good sequel to the first game, too many dumb puzzles not goog gunplay and for an fps gunplay and ai are the most important things, yet even the first game is better on those things. Also get l4d2 is everything the first was and more.

I sure hope you are considering the full Valve pack. It's dirt-cheap right now, and you get EVERYTHING.
