I like to quickly blurb about one of the most laughable shows I have seen on television recently.

Paranormal shows are the new fad on television as of late, thanks to the popularity of Sci-Fi's Ghost Hunters and Travel Channel's Most Haunted. (the latter being the dumbest)

But there's a show also on the Travel Channel that I have spent these past two seasons with friends and family just sitting around and mocking. That would be Ghost Adventures.

For those who have seen it, please comment on how much you agree with me or disagree with me. For those who haven't, here's my description.

The show is about a fratboy who acts as the bastard child of Trent Reznor and Dane Cook who at one point of this life went from skeptic to believer after a run in with a shaky Blair Witch camera and a something offscreen that got him spooked. So now he takes his friends who act as his tech crew (bait) to go get locked up in some of the world's most haunted places and try to make contact with ghosties that live there.

Now, let me go back to the first part of that paragraph; which is also the show's first flaw: the host. This guy, Zak "Bilbo" Bagans, (that is his name) is what you normal people may call "a tool". He probably had a respectable life as a college linebacker before learning he had the ability to piss off the spawns of hell. I can't take him seriously at all. Even when there were moments where he was (supposedly) touched, hurt, or even possessed it all comes back to what he does before; like lying in spaces where evil people died or even using a cap gun to attract spirits.

Then there's his team, Nick and Aaron. I don't really care about Nick; he's just there. What I like to talk about is Aaron, the hefty camera man. This poor soul regularly shakes his head at Zach's antics and has a better smart-meter than him. There was one episode where he sat in an attic and asked the bitter ghost "if this where you killed yourself" and then cringing at what would happen as he tries to get over what he just did while Zach would probably pull his pecker out and piss in the ashes of a soul's remains. Also, Zach always seems to be the one who gets hurt. When Zach does something stupid, Aaron gets the punishment. It's funny, but so have to feel for the guy. He's the kind of dude who just wants to cash his paycheck, watch some porn, and pray to the Lord that they don't do a third season.

Also, the show is just unintentionally hilarious. Other than the cap gun bit, other favorite scenes include Aaron's recorded reaction to being chased by ghosts (which was just a series of bleeps) and an earlier episode where the editors created drama by playing "dum dum dum" music over a few close up shots of Aaron's shocked, blow up doll face.

If I failed at explaining how stupid this show is, I apologize. Paranormal-wise, it's up in the air. On television, it's not always certain what's true and what's scripted "turn this way and say 'Holy Shit!'". I believe in ghosts, and i'll believe that these places are haunted... it's just the way it's presented makes this show act out like a live-action Scooby Doo series, if produced by CollegeHumor.

Can we complain about reality television shows too? Those aren't real either.

But seriously, TV is for entertainment. Except for PBS, that's for eduction. Who cares if it's fake? You don't see everyone saying how people can't fly and shoot laser beams out of their eyes in cartoons.

I've had weird stuff to happen to me, but I woulden't claim that Ghosts exist.
People try to capitalize on that fear of the unknown, and thats why Ghost Shows are so popular.

Essentially, this. If ghosts were real, I'd still know who to call anyways.

I'm humored at the thought of a Red Bull-gulping pseudo jock trying to take down the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man with a cap gun.

So you really see me as a redbull gulping pseudo jock?
Flattering.
But I'm onto AMP now.
