So recently I had stumble upon this.

Being a Ghost in the Shell fan, I was excited when I hit played but it soon became dissapointment the more I watched it.

I was pretty much expecting a Deus Ex/ squad sort of game (a story, hacking and alot of cyberpunk), not a COD/ specific role fps sort of game!

As far I gather, it look like it will be in Asia at the moment since I have no idea if this ever release outside to the East.

So to any fans on here, what do you think?

It looks like every shooter from the past five years with a Stand Alone Complex skin pack included. I really don't get the point of this. I'm a big fan of Ghost in the Shell but not online only FPS games. A Deus Ex/New Vegas style game in the world of SAO would have been really cool. I also wish they would have made it look like the anime I mean, if you're gonna base your game off of one of the most critically acclaimed and beloved anime franchises you may as well make it look like and anime, no?

Oh, well. Missed opportunity.

Well this just makes me sad. So much potential for a tactical Deus Ex style FPSRPG, but it looks like what is being made is a thoroughly average competitive online FPS with a few gadgets. Add to that the fact that the Nexon logo at the start just about confirms that it will be Pay2Win garbage and the the fact that its a GITS product in the year 2014 meaning the possibility of it seeing a western release is iffy at best. I'm going to go rewatch Stand Alone Complex and wait for CDprojekt to give me the cyberpunk game I have been wanting for a long time.

Now, I like Ghost in the Shell, but I may not be the biggest fan of it.

That being said....

Isn't kindof odd for Section 9 to be involved with a guns blazing open warfare like this? I know they've been through some firefights before, and some major ones, but... this just kindof seems off.

The setting for GitS and the methods of operation that Sec9 incorporate is what really make it interesting to me. I would expect something more along the lines of Deus Ex. But this... seems like a waste, really.

Worst of all:

Exactly. And there's really no way around that fact either. So this is really disappointing.

I guess I'll wait for Cyberpunk as well.

Yes, it does kind of seem off. I suppose it'd be similar to how it would have been off for the FBI to storm Afghanistan, instead of the military.

On a completely different note, today Amazon surprised me: it suggested I may want to get GitS Arise which I hadn't even heard of before. So yes, in a way, Amazon did guess correctly, however, it seems that they based their guess on the fact I had purchased Yahtzee's book Jam which...seems really, really really far off from GitS. I suppose the closest aspect of the two would be...geography.

I just saw this today. I love Ghost in the Shell and I was disappointed too. I also thought Ghost in the Shell would make a great RPG. Obsidian Entertainment have expressed interest in making a Ghost in the Shell RPG in the past, it's unlikely but I hope it can happen one day.

Have to agree it looks like an anonymous co-op military shooter & not particularly characteristic of Section 9's work.
That said, the tachikoma cameo at the end does give me some hope.

Someone made a GitS mod for Ghost Recon?

Sweet!

Those laughing man headshots are pretty tacky though. Purely visual reference that makes no sense.

This could be the worst game ever made; I'd still jump at the chance to play Batou the Badass.

Liked the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex game for the PS2 back in the day and would've liked to have seen a more modern game set in the world. But yeah, Multiplayer squad do-dah, not my jam.

Literally all they had to do was re-release Human Revolution but make the main character Major Kusanagi and I would be happy.

Fuck everything I guess.

Hmm, a Korean MMO based off of a Japanese animation that doesn't quite have the right idea about the property in mind. I'm pretty sure this has happened before?

I think it looks pretty good, it looks like it'll be a fast-paced, skill-based online shooter. I'm really picky with online shooters so it probably won't be good enough for me. I think there is definite potential here with the abilities and sharing of said abilities to have some good team-based tactics along with the fast-pace. I'm guessing the grinding and unlocking of things (since I assume it's free-to-play) will probably ruin the game even if it's good. Obviously a story heavy game with RPG mechanics would probably work best with GitS but if it's actually an awesome online shooter (which there are very few of BTW), I'm not going to complain, I'll take anything done well.

I've never seen anything Ghost in the Shell related after the first movie (as I'm frequently told to avoid anything after the movie), but the movie stands as one of the best animated movies ever made.
The Ghost in the Shell series is easily the best anime series I've watched, especially the 1st season, though season 2 is really solid as well, just not on par with season 1. I don't know why anyone would tell you to avoid anything after the 1st movie. Only like the TV series movie wasn't awesome, still good though.

Meh, I'll stick with the PS1 and PS2 game.
There's also Oni I guess, not that its Ghost in the Shell but man was it heavily influenced by it. Gosh I want to replay that now.
