Most of you already know what GIFT is (if you don't then read this [http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/03/19/]). Well, a couple months ago I posted a comment on a Metallica video on YouTube in which I mentioned that, while I like some of Metallica's music, I don't like the band itself, and oh my fucking God, everyone and their granddad jumped on me. Seriously, you'd think I suggested that James Hetfield sucks dicks in back alleys for funsies, which wasn't my intent at all. (Full disclosure: It was my fault, I should have read the other comments first before I said anything; if I had I probably would have kept my fool mouth shut. Here's the video in question [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM8bTdBs-cw] if you're interested. My screen name there is the same as it is here. Some of the comments are actually kind of scary; makes you wonder just how tightly wrapped some people are, regardless of their taste in music.)

My question is, have you ever read or seen something on the Internet that illustrated the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory in action? Was it funny, irritating, scary, whatever? Note that I'm not interested in discussing Metallica or their worth as a band relative to anyone else; I know better than to get involved in THAT shit again. I also don't want to get into whether people by and large are assholes or anything like that; there are already other threads like that, so if you wanna discuss sociology, this isn't the place. Anecdotes only, please. Thanks!

The other day, I was playing CS:S on a Surf DM|RPG server and some guy was calling everyone using an M3 a shitty.

Right after he was arguing with a few 12-year-olds about how he has a life, a bachelor's degree and how he finished high school when those 12 year olds were most likely trolling him.
