None of my boyfriends have really been gamers. One of them played a lot of God of War and Ratchet and Clank, but nothing we could really play together. My current boyfriend plays a handful of games, but I don't think he really likes video games enough to want to spend a lot of money on them. I've gotten him to play Gears of War and RE5 with me though, and we have fun.

I still wish he was a gamer though ;O

You need to get a real man - a real man who likes real games!

I just let my girl mess about on the sims while I'm busy saving the universe again.

What's worse is this attitude. Games are stupid, but television is a worthwhile daily passtime. Nevermind that when you game you are actually engaged with something, and when you're watching television you're just a passive vegetable.

I found a good compromise for that stop watching tv, dont own a tv havent watched any in a good three years and dont miss it, so any future girlfriend that cant adjust to that lifestyle can go elsewhere.

Saving the universe for the billionth time?

On topic, i'd say a girl doesn't have to be a gamer to be a gamer's gf, they just need to work out how much time they spend together.

I wish my gf would game more. There was a time that it was looking promising, she got pretty into Ratchet and Clank for a while, and then started play Hellgate London. That's pretty much died out now tho, I'm working on making her watch south park.

None of my girlfriends have been into gaming much, but its never bothered me too much as I don't play all that often anyway. I can see a plus side to having a girlfriend who plays games - in fact there would be a lot of pluses - but it shouldn't be necessity to make a relationship work. If it is/would be a necessity then you would need to ask yourself some serious questions.

I have a TV card in my computer, but it stopped working a while back...vista. So this is basically how I live too. And yeh...I honestly don't miss it.

Chloé has never play a "real" game ever. And due to me loving her like... A LOT I have been playing less the last... 394 days of perfection. You know what... I want to see her now...Actually I always want to see her. You know what? I am going to see her right now. ^.^

I had a girlfriends awhile who used to play WoW with me. She was a lot better at it than me. I just didn't have the patience.

My girl can't play games to save her life, she just laughs when I'm playing Fallout or Oblivion while we talk on the phone. She fully acknowledges her handicap to games, but doesn't get on my case about my frequent gaming, she is really awesome for that.

Lack of gaming was a total deal-breaker back when I was still dating. Gaming is what I do with my free time and it's one of the topics that has a tendency to creep into every conversation I have (along with sports and military history), so a girl who can't keep up could never be anything other than a short-term fling for cheap sex.

I married a girl who is a complete geek---she'll play just about anything from Blizzard (Warcraft/Starcraft/Diablo/WoW) and has also played more than a little bit of EVE Online. We don't play together (I'm into Total War, Civilization, and other singleplayer games while she likes to play with other people), but that's not a dealbreaker.

*sigh* My girlfriend is good at gaming... many times she beats me without even knowing how to play... and I've played my whole life.

She also plays WoW with me... and it's wonderfull that the big, terrifying raid happy, fully geared 80 is always on -my- side.

And you buy her an ingame flower and you're a hero.

The girl that would be most likely my girlfriend (isn't, but could be in the future) doesn't game, and that's not a big problem for me. It would be nice, but meeh, we share more important characteristics than my hobby, even though gaming is one of my biggest hobbies. I find it a fantastic medium, love to track the developments in the industry, love to have serious discussions about it and obviously love to play the actual games (though not as much lately). It would be fantastic to have a girlfriend wich would share at least some of my hobbies, but because of that girl right now, I don't see it as a deal breaker. As long as she doesn't hate me for gaming, that is, and she doesn't. I don't think I can get her into gaming either. The main problem is the fact that she sucks at english. A LOT. She can barely understand anything in english, let alone the pretty technical language used in gaming. Maybe if I can find a game in dutch, but I hate dutch translations with a passion and will always install my games in english. O well, I would change that for her though. She's fantastic.

I let my girlfriend play Prince of Persia with me a while back and since then she has tried to play a lot of games with me. She likes it that I include her even though she isn't very good.

Few weeks ago she even bought Sonic Unleashed cuz she liked Sonic from when she was a kid and we play it from time to time. Irony is that it's the hardest fucking game I've ever played. I nearly smashed my controller to bits because of it and I've finished RE5 on Pro so I don't think I'm that lame.
