Just telling, but you can customize a soldier in MGO to be in any gender as well as even customize their voices and personalities.

i don't know, in "real world" games, females shouldn't be there because historically and even now, they are not placed directly into combat on purpose

That was past. Right now, there's still what I would like to call "safe" sexism wherein females are not put directly into any form of violence or combat because of physical disadvantages. Also, it applies in normal life where it is forbidden for a man to punch a woman because of the same reasons.

If people want equal rights, both genders must be prepared. Men should adjust to treat women like their equal and women must not use their genders as shields / excuse for their frailty.

Sorry for my long speech, but I just hate racism, sexism, or any form of social boundaries plaguing this world.

The thing is, woman are physically at a disadvantage when it comes to war, and considering people die in war, i don't blame the military for not taking the risk.

call it safe sexism all you like, but military wise, you have to see there point, and this will transfer itself into games, because alot of games focus on today's and yesterdays time zones, where woman are not allowed to fight

I don't care if the game is a taco or sausage fest.
I like a game for being fun, creative and well, ok mostly just fun.

I don't try to take the "oh there's no good girl [games, characterts, bacon] route, because honestly, I don't care.

I will admit that I do like seeing female sidekicks or regular characters with big boobs. I can't wait to see who perfects boobies in a game first, and I'm straight as an arrow! :)

But, back on topic, my boyfriend and I game together not because we get to play as our genders in games, but because we enjoy something.

*shrugs and goes to play Left4Dead2*

the gaming world is generally a man's world. Women are the minority. Thus men will be catered to more. Sad fact. So there's going to be a lot of playing to the bloke's ego: damsel in distress minor characters or... damn, I can't think of another exception than Perfect Dark right now.

Well, you get my point. Now I'm off to read Terry Pratchett alone and sob gently into my pillow, like every other night.
Basically this.

Aside from the sobbing, that's just not cool bro'

My pet hate is how women are depicted in fantasy RPGs: Dainty little things who can lift a sword and fight despite having the figure of a fashion model.

Yeah but its the same for guys in rpgs, look at cloud tiny as fuck but look at his sword ;)
its more aethetically pleasing and like a butch chick is gonna get many fans, look at beat em ups too, the girls are skinny but that is what makes them appealing to males and girls. and to be honest 'to be able to lift a sword and fight' isnt particularily hard...you dont need abs of steel and give out tickets to the gun show to be able to do that

Are you referring to yourself? If so, I agree completely.
Nice comeback... note the sarcasm. Anyhow, I'm not going to "feed the troll" any longer. You've gotten rather lame and uncreative, so I think I'll say bye now :)

So sorry to serve as the fan to so much neanderthal flaming, people. Fun while it lasted, but it drove the topic WWaaaayyy off. I think I've discovered the futility of troll-confronting on this thread. It's like quoting Plato to Glen Beck. I promise to be a good boy from now on. But only on this thread.
}:)

And I still love women. That alone is enough to require my seeking out a new flame shield.

P.S. I'm drunk!

Females are definitely a minority in first-person shooters, you stated that yourself. So why should the developer of the game spend so much more time, effort, and money to cater to this minority, when they can devote that time, effort, and money to creating a better game for the majority (males)?

The minority of any population will always be at some sort of disadvantage compared to the majority, this is true in ANY situation.

I guess what I'm getting at here is that some games seem to forget about girls altogether. Halo has some inclusion, you have the ability the change you death screams to female. I guess what annoys me about that is it seems a little like a half baked after thought. If you play as an elite you still have the Spartan female voice, the elite death screams are the funniest in the game and I don't think I should have to change to male just to have them.
Are there even female elites? Not the games nor the backstory details the entricasies of Xeno reproduction...And all Elites look nearly identical...they could easyily use Asexual reproduction.

So basically they wouldn't sound like human females? Thankyou, my point exactly. To sound like an elite I have to change the sex to male,I shouldn't have to, it should just sound like an elite not a human.

But then you have all these people who would say "Elites don't have the choice to change there voice pitch! Thats sexist!"

Ok, I'm a girl and even I'm getting annoyed at all the threads saying "Do games ignore the female portion of their audience.", claiming that some games are a bit sexist because they don't cater to females, or put female characters in their games.

I honestly don't care anymore. If I want to play a game, I'll play it whether it's geared towards guys or not. I could care less about if they made a game with the female audience in mind.

Sorry if this offends anyone at all. But it just seems extremely futile to whine about this stuff and I'm wondering why people care to begin with. I mean come on, it's a video game. It's not like there are separate drinking fountains for males and females.
