Give a game a second chance

We didn't like every game that we ever bought, we're just not that fortunate. Sometimes it wasn't what we were expecting, sometimes it didn't meet our expectations. But needless to say, there's at least one game in our library that we aren't particularly fond of. Here is what I suggest. Go back to one game and give it a second chance. Sometimes if you approach a game with the wrong mindset it can be particularly frustrating, but if you put yourself in the right mindset, it can be particularly enjoyable. Go back to a game that you don't remember particularly fondly and try it again, maybe you'll enjoy it more than you did last time, maybe it'll be even worse than before. Me? I'm going to go back and give Skyrim another try. I think I might have focused too much on the main storyline and the war, I didn't pay any attention to the sidequests and didn't do any exploring. I'm going to go back, explore some more, actively hunting down pieces of valuable treasure in dungeons and...I think I'm going to take up enchanting. I always used a plain old boring sword, I should try spicing things up a bit. Well, what games are you going to try? Also be sure to come back and give your opinion on the game now that you've checked it out after a cooldown period.

Back when I first had Fallout 3 I never understood it so I traded into Gamestop before even reaching level 5. Around maybe 2 months after that I had such an urge to play it and I had a whole new mindset about that game and so I repurchased it (I'm a great money waster) and I'm so beyond glad I did. I went back into that game with an entirely new mindset. I ended up getting every achievement in the game (including DLC) except for one because I hated Mothership Zeta and it sits as one of my favorite games! Give games second chances kids, it could really benefit you!

Someday maybe I can give second change to Skyrim and Spec Ops - The Line. I think, they do not deserve a second change.

I gave DA2 a second chance. It does a decent job of blocking the light from my power button when I leave it on overnight. Best $60 I ever spent.

I have lots of games I never finished or haven't gotten around to playing yet, but very few I outright hated. I was very underwhelmed by Grotesque tactics, I might give that a 2nd chance someday.

Dota 2 does not actually want me to play it. If you didn't play the original DotA, whatever your other experience with the genre is, you're not welcome at its party. Why should I bother going back when I'm already invested in League and it's more than willing to let people come over and stay?

Funny story. I DID give FF8 another chance originally. Guess what? That's the clincher for my rants. It's still terrible!

..I don't usually give games a second chance. Not because I hated the game before.

I was just young and stupid, and now that I'm older things actually make sense. So I give games I beat, or got bored with as a kid a second chance.

It's pretty hit or miss.

I gave DA2 a second chance... and still didn't like it :(

I also gave New Vegas a second chance and liked it much better (Note I did really like the game when I first played it, I just didn't get as into it as FO3)

Dammit, you ninja.

I hated back when I was a kid when it came out. Then I played it again when it was older....I want my 80 some odd hours (both playthroughs together) back...

Also gave Persona 3 another chance...still has the shittiest pacing and laziest dungeon design of any game I've played -_- Social links are still vapid and pigeon holed. Game just doesn't want me to like it despite the few good bits sprinkled on this otherwise mediocre at best RPG.

I couldn't get in to Mass Effect 2 at first, but after the release of ME3 I gave it another shot and loved it.

I also feel that I still need to give the Assassin's Creed games another shot. I've always thought they were pretty fun, but none of them kept me wanting to continue.

I already did this years ago with Final Fantasy X, and that game was still terrible. It was a lot more fun than I remember it being, but it the writing destroys that game.

I actually did this with the original Assassins Creed - tried it once, didn't do much for me and then I left it for months. Eventually came back to it and I'm glad I did. While the repetitive grind of it still sucked, it got me through to the following two games, which I loved :)

The prime candidate for a second chance in my current collection is probably The Witcher... but I've gotta be honest, I just don't see it happening. I just hate all the characters (and Gerald in particular) way too much and I figure if a game hasn't grabbed me by 35 hours in, it's just not going to...

Funnily enough I never did get far in Fallout 3. I think I had another new game at the same time which took precedence, and I never got round to trying it again. I must get round to it someday.
