Apologies if this has been done recently, I cant remember seeing a similar thread, and the sacred search bar revealed nothing.

We all love it when we hear of a new expansion to one of our favorite games, which will allow us to glean even more enjoyment out that game. Some of these expansions fall short of our expectations, and add little to the game, and we regret purchasing them. Others however, are pure awesome and increase our enjoyment of the game manyfold.

So, which game expansions have you enjoyed the most, and why, what was great about them, what did they add that you liked? Which ones do you think were just not worth the money?

I'd have to say my favorite expansion would be Winter Assault for the original Dawn of War. It added the Imperial Guard (w00t!) pulled them off really well, and added 2 whole new campaigns, with an actual story which the two later expansions seemed to forget about...

When I say expansion, I mean a fully fledged add-on to a game, not just some Downloadable map pack, or some extra kit, and other such extras...

The Half Life Episodes. That and Broken Steel were great "add-ons".
Let's not forget Brood War either :D

Broken Steel.

Simply because it made the end of F3 not suck.

I still haven't got round to getting any of the Fo3 expansions :( My money is required for other things at the momeent, but I WILL get them...

I'll be getting Broken Steel, but is Point Lookout any good? It certainly looks interesting...

I've heard it's pretty good since it's a change of location and it's pretty creepy.

Half Life 2: Episodes 1 & 2 and GTA IV: The Lost and Damned, since they stand up on their own as actual games, not useless add-ons.

Additionally, the "Keys to the City" DLC for Crackdown, since it was essentially the equivalent of giving 360 users console controls for their game. It was amazingly fun to use and more games should do it (plus, it was free!)

Throne of Bhaal for Baldur's Gate 2, since it's essentially BG3 in an expansion pack.

Mask of the Betrayer (NWN2) Better than the original game in many ways.

Lord of Destruction (Diablo 2) Extra chapter for the clickfest.

Forge of Virtue + Silver Seed (Ultima VII + Serpent Isle) Actually Serpent Isle is pretty much just an expansion of U7 anyway...
