Earlier today was Thanksgiving (here in the US, anyway - but you can still give thanks anyway if you're from elsewhere!) So I was wondering - what is everyone thankful for in their life?

I am thankful for:

- My awesome family - my sister and her husband that I live with and often share good times with. My grandfather, who has been an emotional and financial rock for the rest of us. My dad, who passed on his great love of film and technology to me, and his wife, who has always been so kind and caring.

And my mother - she passed away earlier this year, but I will always cherish my memories of her. She taught me through her examples to be a kind, patient, understanding person, and I will always be grateful for that. I love you, Mom <3

- Our 2 dogs and 3 cats that often make us laugh and are always there to comfort us.

- A decent roof over my head, a pretty good job, a reliable car, and plenty to eat.

- The awesome community here at the Escapist, and the Pub Club within it. And also the superb staff and contributors that make it such a great site. You guys rock!

- Honestly, some material things - my computer here, my TV, my Xbox, my games and DVDs.

So, TLDR - what are you guys thankful for?

I'm thankful that I'm going to go to bed now... sleep is one of the things I'm really good at since I can control my dreams. I guess in the case of my family I could do worse and I do have a decent paying part-time job.

Eh, who should I be thankful to? Should I go and thank people for everything good that happened in my life? I've never understood this silly idea.

Sorry if I sound like a troll, but I really don't understand the purpose of this.
You don't have to be thankful to anyone in particular, really - I suppose if you're religious, it would be giving thanks to God. For me, it's more like, just reflecting on the good aspects of your life, and thinking of those less fortunate and ways you may be able to help them, perhaps. Does that make more sense?

I'm thankful of how our country isn't totally socialist yet.

Also, for pie. Wonderful, delicious pie. Especially those four slices I had today.

its just something that carried on in Christian religions and most all religions. the concept (like most commmerical holidays that have really deep roots), started all religious.

I know Atheists that celebrate this and just say tehy're thankful luck wasnt bad for them. thats always something to be thankful for.

Anyway, i'm thankful for my friends who are still alive (I had one die this year, he didnt beat the train across the tracks), my gf, my family... um... i guess the relative peace that has been going around in my neighborhood. and that the economy seems to be on something of an uprise.

That i'll get to go to my first thanksgiving thingy ever this year.
I'm an Australian, my gf has an American friend through church, and i've been invited to a thanksgiving lunch.

Also, i tried candy corn for the first time this year at halloween, so i guess it's a year of firsts for me, lol.
