While I can't honestly say I approve of a good many of Beck's rantings, I will say this. He speaks his mind regardless of what people will say about him. I wish more people would toss political correctness out the window and stand up and speak thier minds. I respect Glenn Beck for that. Having read portions of a couple of his books, I have deduced the following.

1. He actually seems to hate everyone. Really... He does... Left, Right, Center - He hates everyone.

2. He speaks his mind - even if it pisses people off.

3. He raises some good points about the dangers of 'political correctness.'

4. He doesn't know when to quit.

I wouldn't say I, "Like," him, but I can say that he doesn't bother me, and I am thinking of reading more of his books just to see what they are all about. It's America after all. People should be able to say and think what they want, right?

I want to respect Beck for the first 3 points. But then I remember that I respect people who are informed and decent.

Most people know of him in Canada, though we don't really "know" him.
He is a great comedians, though probably for all the wrong reasons. Getting drunk and watching him makes for a great night (I'm a happy drunk; if you're an angry drunk, don't try this).

Source? Actually, forget that. Don't bother with trying to give a source for that because that statement has absolutely no basis in reality. Some moron on the internet started the rumor and it's become a joke ever since.
Actually that was meant as satire against Glenn Beck. Sometimes he takes the same approach with some of the people he speaks against: say something untrue and then make them answer for it. So when he is approached with such a ridiculous question that he just scoffed at, his own logic can be used against him. If he doesn't deny it, then it must mean that it's true!
I don't recall Glenn Beck ever accusing anyone of being a rapist or a murderer though. Wow, way to take the high road there, internet.
While he, to my knowledge, has never accused anyone of rape or murder, he has accused politicians of being Nazis, Terrorists, and other words that tend to muddy the waters of political discourse and, in some cases, risk violence against them. He has actively targeted President Obama and claimed that he is a Maoist, Stalinist, Marxist, Hitler, communist, and is trying to destroy America. He is the mouthpiece of the ultra-ultra-ultra right wing of the US electorate, who are partly the reason why "The Beast" (the presidential limo) is designed so it can take a direct hit by an RGP-7. These are the people who can get very violent it they are poked the right way (pun not intended).
Yeah, the presidential limo is armored because of the right wing, not for all of the psychos in the world who actually want the President dead. I don't recall ever speaking to you before so congratulations, with one post you've been labeled a tinfoil hat-wearing moron in my mind.
I did use the lovely term "partly" in my post, but I think I should respond since I'm being accused of being crazy.

You are probably the first individual who has put me in that crowd, mainly because a DHS Report [http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/16/extremist-report-draws-criticism-prompts-apology/?scp=1&sq=Right%20Report&st=Search] from April 2009 that was comissioned by the Bush Administration noted that Right-Wing Extremest groups could gain motivation and start stockpiling weapons due to the election of Barack Obama. This, combined with accounts of recieving threating e-mails from reporters after being named on a Fox News program, [http://www.newsweek.com/id/207836] references to violence by the more outspoken individuals [http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/09/opinion/09krugman.html?scp=4&sq=Capitol%20Rally&st=cse], and other disturbing trends tend to suggest that I might not be as crazy you suggest.

I know who he is, but that's because I keep quite up to date with the goings on in American culture since they seem to bleed over to here.

Also because he allegedly Raped and Murdered a girl in 1990.

I know a fair few names for Fox News presenters, but most of them I couldn't put to a face.
You guys are bleeding over here too. Not a bad thing, really...

Oh he's known alright. Basicly, at least amongst the people I know, he's laughed and facepalmed about. Even more so the people who regard as an avatar of truth.

"Boycott hollywood and all the commies. John Wayne was right!"

Jesus Christ. That video makes me genuinely frightened. I had no idea those stereotypes were actually real in some way.

I hadn't heard of him (or even how bad Fox News was) until I came to the Escapist so I doubt many people where I live know much about him.

I completely agree, I used to watch him alot when he was still on HLN, but I have stopped watching him. I can't stand commentators in general, and I despise hypocrites, and I view him as one.

Anyway, from what I've heard Bill O'Reilly seems to get more flak but like I said, I'm fairly removed from the whole scenario.

In Britain, if you read the Guardian or watch the Daily Show, you know who he is. Thankfully we don't have an equivilent...but then if we did, he'd probably get laughed off the television.

The man is truly insane. Although I'm beggining to wonder if his entire show is in fact satire of the American Right and behind the scenes he's laughing at his viewers. Surely that's the only way he gets away with the rubbish he spouts...no? Well then he's just insane then.

Also, I just watched Glenn Beck get owned by Whoopi Goldberg. You go Whoopi!

Just kidding. I've only heard of him because of the Daily Show to be quite honest. I just love that John Daily, he's so funny.

I checked him out on YouTube a few months ago after hearing virtually every American on the internet doing a whole lot of bitching about him. Turns out they were right, the man's a pillock. Or possibly a very clever satirist. Though, if the latter is true, he does go a bit over the top sometimes.

The whole video was disturbing, but that women with the "new era of McCarthyism" shirt was just psycho, even by those standards.

I'm Australian and I know about him... but mostly because I love Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert.
