You know.. I have held back an anurism for years from many things that just blow my mind that people can believe (Sciencetology is right up there)

But when I hear people in games like Modern Warefare 2, or worse, Smash Bros Brawl talking about how glitching takes skill and only noobs whine about losing to them... I have to ask...

Does ANYONE else out there actually believe this rubbish?

And if not (or even if so) what game do you hear people praising glitching as some "Mad Skill" and perfectly acceptable and fair?

Nobody believes that, not even the people saying it.

They're just messing with you. Ignore it.

Some very tough to make happen glitches require some skill, but not enough to be called completely legitimate strategies.

Well, is a glitch causing me to get stuck in a rock in Fallout 3 a representation of that rock's superior trapping ability? I doubt it.

I dunno, them rocks are mighty crafty.

OT: The fuck, no.
It's sad when you hear stuff like this "I can glitch, you can't & therefore you suck".

Right, yeah ok then.

Javelin glitches=suicide bombing. the difference is some do it for a god, others do it for points. either way, in the end it was cheap.

Glitches aren't necessarily unfair, but the use of them for personal gain is. Also, the syntax in your title is messed up. It's != not =!. Had you been programming, that would've thrown an error.

If I'm playing a game and I accidentally glitch, I'll take every advantage of it I can. (I'm not what you'd call a world-class gamer.) I won't use it every chance I get and say it's because I'm good.

"You can glitch? *Bows down* Lead me my mighty overlord! Preferably into one of those walls that no one else can access! You're so cool! I bet you have like 7 girlfriends." I bet those are the type of responses Glitchers hope for.

glitching is only cool if it happens accidently but if you strive to find/google glitches then no it is very bad

Depends on the glitch. You mention Smash Bros, pretty much all the glitches in that are fair game because they have effective counters, plus a lot of what people define as glitches (wave dashing, short jumping and attack cancelling spring to mind) simply aren't, they're in the controls. Players that can't do them need to learn.

But, some glitches are plain cheating. Most recently the Javglitch would be the biggie, that's well outside intended design, walking through walls and lag exploits are pretty low too. When a glitch give you an advantage that can't be countered it's no good.

Smash Bros Brawl glitch?
The more famous is a feat called "Waveshining" which falls under an exploit. But since the tourney***s cried to their mommies (Nintendo Torunament Judges) it was rendered legal. These same guys (18+) claim they have skill because of the following.

1. They can exploit a game mechanic.
2. They play without items, and banning 4/5s of stages (Rather then bnanning the reason these stages are banned, the character "Fox") (I find it funny you can claim skill ONLY when the game is setup just for you)
3. Only use the character fox, and only because of the glitch and the fact he can hit you once from longrange and then run for the rest of the match.

I also play a few FPS' where people will wall glitch (Drop below world)and proceed to shoot people from below and claim this as skill.

B-but.. Javeline glitch is in the controls, so it is not cheating if you are simply exploiting a game mechanic, since your precious brawl is :D

That might be Melee cause Washdashing is not in it. Plus because of those whiny tourneytards, they added tripping in brawl which has saved me for the screwed me.

Being a staff member of a glitching website, I can say some glitches require skills and others don't. I don't like people who use them in actual matches. The site I'm part of doesn't condone using them in matches, but suggests going into private matches and doing them for fun. At least if I see somebody doing one in multiplayer I most likely know how they did it. Often times people who use them in multiplayer can't do good otherwise.

Some glitches do need skill to perform, however it's allways less skill than just playing the game, so that excuse doesn't fly very far. Sure geting out of the map and sniping from below is hard, but it's easer than staying in the map and sniping, diffrent effort but same reward ruins that argument.

Also just because there are ways to deal with a glitch doesn't mean the glitch is now ok to use, anymore than having a police force makes it ok to comit crimes.

If it's not suppost to be there and gives you an advantage then you shouldn't use it.
