My friend recently posed this question to me: Has globalization made the world a better place?
With all the improved transport and communications in the recent decade, they have sped up globalization. This has been a big factor in the improvement of economies in various countries, for example, without trade with other countries, Singapore wouldn't be what it is today. In fact, we only survive because of our various forms of interaction with other countries e.g tourism, trade, education, water supply.
Now the problem is, because of globalization, the use of resources has also been sped up and we face the problem of not having certain resources by the end of the next 20 years. Globalization also increases our knowledge of other cultures, but because of this, certain countries are losing their own local unique culture.
TL;DR: Has globalization made the world a better place? Do the benefits outweigh the consequences?
