I am laughing my confused ass off at this.

EDIT: and if it's a reasonable price and isn't unhealthy, I'd probably buy it in a few years, too, just for the hilarious gimmick of it. Just before it happens you have to shout "NEUTRINO BLAAAAAAAAAAAAST"

EDIT2: oh wait it's not like that, nevermind. It'll still turn up in porno in a few years.

Why? What's the point? I don't get it...

*is confused*

EDIT: Okay, I get why they did it, but I just didn't think it would make much of a difference.

I understand the reasoining (after reading the small article) but I wonder how the babies will turn out.

I can see the infomercials if this ever gets ported into human genetic modification...

Well, yeah, just judging by the post title, this sounds entirely useless and/or retarded, but if you actually read it, it makes some sense. Science is weird like that.

To observe sperm properly, didn't you read the article?

This will be useful to scientists, I guess. Not much discussion value in my sight.

Seems pretty understandable to me. They did it so the sperm was easier to observe. Says right in the article.
But...

It shouldn't be that hard to observe normally. It still doesn't seem like it was necessary at all.

But who would see it, if it's gonna be inside... ahem... somewhere.

And wouldn't that give us Glow-in-the-Dark babies?

Youd be surprised how hard things that small are to see under the microscope.

OT: Why is this even news? They used Green Flourescent Proteins, just like everyone else who needed to clearly differentiate microscopic things, theres nothing new about it.

Well it is a useful advancement, I just don't know what else they think they can get out of the sexual process with this...

Guys, there is no product, I don't even know how you're reaching that conclusion.
Did you even read the article? Or did you just see "glow in the dark sperm" and stopped there?

It's somewhat ironic that the OP is saying how this is a product for stupid people.

It's about observing sperm from different flies. If you make the colors different for different individuals, you can differentiate between them. Otherwise, try to tell the difference between one fly's sperm and another fly's sperm. Pretty much impossible visually.
