Does "elf" have to mean happy little Disney elf?

I mean come on, there is a lot of very interesting folklore about elves.

Damn, what is up with all the elf hate lately?(by that I mean every time the word "elf" is used on the forums someone is bashing them, I'm not overreacting to your joke here.) When did the direct decedents of the valor become jokes?

I have to admit, that sounds hilarious. Maybe they'll do that with DLC as a joke or something.
