Clearly god didn't like that section of pavement. *sage nod*I remember when lightning struck the pavement in my neighborhood. Scared the crap out of me and made jump high in the air. Just right across the house in the middle of the street.

I thought it was the lightning demon Alastor not pleased with my performance that day.Clearly god didn't like that section of pavement. *sage nod*
I highly doubt God that this. It was his mother nature having a biatch mood and throwing lightning at random spots it is happen to hit one of the Floyd memorials. Even if it was God, he still has to destroy it the other thousands of memorials throughout the United states. Not to mention, people can just rebuild and that's not getting into the digital memorials on Deviantart, Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter. So divine intervention my ass.Well no, clearly it's not Zeus or Thor, that's just crazy mythology nonsense! only the christian invisible sky daddy that smites people is a REAL invisible sky daddy! clearly! I mean gosh! To think otherwise is just silly! There's that book that clearly SAYS he's real, and it's written in that book, and the book says it's true, so, that's just fact! What's that? You say those other invisible sky daddy's also have books that say they are real? Pssh, clearly those are fictional works of a crazy person from the ancient times!
Yeah I was speaking sarcastically, about how religious people will attribute stuff to their deity as "clear as day obvious", but dismiss other deities possible involvement as just clearly silly talk.I highly doubt God that this. Oh, I know you're fine. I was more so referring to the "good"people that actually believe that.Yeah I was speaking sarcastically, about how religious people will attribute stuff to their deity as "clear as day obvious", but dismiss other deities possible involvement as just clearly silly talk.
Ok I was confused for a second. Your phrasing seemed to imply you thought I genuinely thought god zotted that memorial, and I was thinking "....surely not. I know I've made my stance pretty clear here"Oh, I know you're fine. I was more so referring to the "good"
people that actually believe that.
There's a ton of stuff from the Old Testament and Apocrypha that at the very least seems to imply the existence of other gods, mostly in the form of the Israelites smiting their followers and/or YHWH banning them from things. There's one entertaining bit where one of the prophets (Daniel?) runs into a sect worshiping a dragon kept in their temple, with the logic being "Our god is better than your god because ours is a living physical being". So the Israelite prophet kills it.More or less. That line "Thou shalt have no OTHER gods before me" can be read as a tacit admission there are others to follow.
Apparently there has been some discussion of the Israelites having a Monolatrist religion, where they believe other gods exist but their particular god is the most powerful and the most deserving god of worship. After the babylonian captivity, the religion then became one of strict monotheism.
Naturally, this is disputed.
