I love the whole thing, the candy, the parties, the weather, the horror movies. It's my favorite holiday completely on its own merits, although Christmas comes closely afterwards, thanks to the presents, followed more distantly by Easter.
As for what I'll be doing: watching horror movies in my bedroom[footnote]Which doubles as a pretty good home theater. The sound matches or beats any commercial theater in the area, although the picture is just an old Sony Trinitron CRT, nice for its age but not HD[/footnote], with an eye open for any trick or treaters I may get. There won't be many in this neighborhood, but I remember growing up here, so I'm danged well gonna make sure that whatever kids do come by get some candy, since it wasn't much better of a trick or treating neighborhood when I was that age. I'll probably point any parents who come with the kids in the direction of the nearby neighborhood that actually does get into it, and has plenty of candy going around.
I've actually gotten a major jump start on the movies this year, been watching them all month. My mom hates violent movies, so I was deprived of R-rated classics of all genres growing up, and I've got major catching up to do. This year I've kind of made it my mission in life to do more catching up than I have in the past
