If the film makers want to feature US military equipment in the film, then the US military has to be effective against whatever they fight otherwise the film makers CANNOT use US military equipment in the film.

Two things: First, you can feature all the U.S. military equipment you want without playing by the rules, you just won't get direct support FROM the military.

Second, I don't think that's actually even one of the rules. Did you see Man of Steel? They clearly were working directly with the military, there, and the military equipment is just as clearly utterly useless in almost every respect. At the end of the day, the only thing the military succeeded with was kamikaze'ing a transport plane carrying a MacGuffin.

There's an enormous gap between "effective against whatever they fight" and "contribute to stoping the bad guys". Indeed, the gap is large enough to make your original point no longer work.

Godzilla's probably still upset about the 1998 film, either that, or he thinks this next film will screw up like the 1998 one.

And given how the film industry's been treating licensed characters (like Lone Ranger, Green Lantern, and almost every cartoon TV show that's been adapted to live-action film), I doubt you can blame him.

Godzilla already had his revenge against Roland Emmerich's iguana. Watch Godzilla 2000. It's pretty much an all star lineup of monsters from Big Z's past. Emmerich's iguana makes it about thirty seconds before getting the shit kicked out of him.

Not to be confused with the 1998 Godzilla. That Hollywood flop was so bad it spawned the movie you mentioned. And it was gooooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOD!

As long as theres no bloody love story in there, sick of American films and how they all must have a love story because the American audience can't relate to the film otherwise (atleast that's what Hollywood says, idk myself). I want to watch Godzilla smash a town apart, I don't care about who's screwing who in the background....

Please be good and more successful than Pacific Rim. I just want big monster movies to be a viable thing again. Not necessarily the biggest thing, but enough so we don't see them shelved for so many years at a time.

I hope for this one we get to see more in the style of the original film. I want to see the force of nature that leaves a huge path of destruction. THEN we can move on to the big Monster v Monster rumble. Because I want to see Mothra and King Ghidorah in all their modern cinematic glory.

I've been watching the Japanese Godzilla movies since I was a small child and I enjoyed it.
Admittedly not as much as the originals, especially "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah," but it was no way near as bad as people made it out to be.
I think the problem was that it didn't stand out like people were expecting it to. It was just another average, generic action movie (although with fantastic special effects).
And as we all know, a mediocre installment of a highly revered series is going to get a very harsh reaction.

Still, Zilla as he's now known is his own monster now. So it's not really an installment of the Godzilla movies anymore, but the first (and probably only) Zilla movie. That's gotta remove some of the sting for those who felt betrayed by the creature design.

It's a mediocre monster movie with Godzilla's name slapped on it for brand recognition and to trick people into paying for it.

In and of itself, this isn't that bad a thing. It's disappointing, but it ultimately would have been acceptable if not for one teensy little thing: It ignores, tramples, spits on, and otherwise utterly destroys all of the subtext and themes of the other films in the franchise.

The best example of this is that the military managed to kill Godzilla. In the original movies, Godzilla was basically a stand-in for nuclear weapons. An indiscriminate, violent, and utterly unstoppable force that trampled over conventional militaries like they weren't even there. It would appear, ransack Tokyo and the humans would be almost completely helpless against it, then it would leave as suddenly as it came. It was a fitting symbol of nuclear weapons.

Oh yeah. It didn't even cross my mind. Probably cause I've only seen one other Godzilla movie before, but I agree with you. It's the same with why I don't believe a lot of these remakes shouldn't exist now. These games and movies that change the core of it and keep the same label, cause it's a cheap ass strategy.

I don't think it was a bad movie, but it should of been called Revenge of the Dinosaurs, or something related to dinosaurs.

You know, I wish I could ignore these remakes out of existence but it ticks me off every time they pull this crap.
