So, $5 for Saboteur not working on windows 10 64 bit. Screen goes black for a second as if it is getting ready to run and then it does not.

Any ideas?

Those of you who have the same problem as I did with the black screen at exit can temporarily fix it by making the game run in windowed mode by adding the line "Windowed 1" to the config file in the Documents\My Games\The Saboteur?\SaveGames-folder.
Technically for exiting the game but try that, see if that works as that is the closest thing I've found that's similar to your problem. Either way, sounds like either the game simply doesn't work for Win 10 or the game is booting up in 1920x1200 which, in my case at least, results in a black screen of nothingness.

I know that Saboteur does not like quad or more cores. Try setting the affinity in task manger to two only (core 0 and 1).

I know this is an out of the box suggestion, but how about you just send a support ticket to GOG instead of asking about it in a completely unrelated forum?

Aren't you sweet.
Stores have dedicated customer support for this exact eventuality.

Most of my GOG games don't work. They've gone down hill so much. Jade Empire is virtually unplayable with is moving so fast, 40k Chaos Gate crashes, 40k Final Liberation crashes, Dark Forces 2 crashes, Starfleet Academy doesn't crash but I can't interact with anything.

GOG is really just a video game flea-market with 'buyer beware' on it.

I have the same OS, but a different version of the game that does work. If it tries to launch and fails, the most likely causes, in no particular order, may include:

- Bad exe/install
- Trying and failing to connect to an online service/DRM
- Blocked by antivirus, anti-malware, firewall, etc
- Hardware Incompatibility
- Compatibility mode/Run as administrator

I don't think most of those apply, but listed them for the sake of completion. Most likely, it's the first issue described, either an issue with the install, the exe or a setting. Try verifying the game's files or reinstalling it, then run the VideoSetup.exe in the game's folder to configure the graphics options; set them to the native resolution and low graphics and try again. If not, try setting the game's exe to run as admin and if still no luck, run in compatibility mode for Windows 7. If that doesn't work, you may want to contact the vendor for support or try googling about.

It's well worth the effort. It's a brilliant game, one of the best open-world games of it's generation, sadly lacking small amounts of polish in some areas and a bit more fleshing out, but much more enjoyable than any The Ubisoft Game games in recent years. Sadly, rather than a sequel, Pandemic got shut down by EA :-( They join Bulldog, Westwood and Maxis in developer Heaven.

I actually have a save now that i use when i reinstall it for a replay, that starts right after prologue but has all the available perks/cars, which i did myself. So i play the prologue, then launch my save and continue with all the nice things already. Sadly, have to wait a while to be able to get the "escape a level 5 alarm" perk (it unlocks in the story). Good luck, hope you get it working!
