Nope, it's not a time travel thread. Gotch'ya.

Modern movies, music, books and video games have something in common. They're all pretty much trash in my opinion.

Post your favorite entertainmentish stuff, pre-90's. This could be an opportunity to discover something you'll really like that you never knew existed because you done missed it young'in. The 90's still had it's share of great stuff, but I feel it's too recent, so 80's or older.

Current favorites:
B.O.C. "I Love the Night" 1978 (music)

The Hitcher 1986 (movie)

The Last Starfighter 1984 (movie)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087597/
The Hidden 1987 (movie)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093185/
"Flesh" by Richard Laymon 1988 (book)

"The Light at the End" by John Skipp and Craig Spector 1986 (book)

P.S. Post links of the stuff in case ppl wanna check it out from the thread.

You're never to young to appreciate what went before. I was born in '84 but there's plenty from the preceding decade or so I enjoy. Most recent film I've watched that falls pre 90's would be Get Carter I think, there's probably more but it's late, or rather early, depends on your PoV :p

When it comes to books there is Dune (I've only read the first one so far), The Wheel of Time series started in the 80's (I'm currently reading the first one), Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Year One, Ronin, V for Vendetta and many many others.

Music? Black Sabbath, Dio, Rainbow, in fact, just Dio in general. There was Dream Theater's first album, Death's first albums, Pantera, Slayer, Stratovarius and a lot more that I can't remember right now.

Don't know too many movies from before then besides the 'classics' and what not. I'm sure various people will eventually list them all.

You have a NotLD90 Patricia Tallman avatar. Friend.
lol. I love her in that movie. Tom Savini's version is really great, the whole cast was terrific, and for me Patricia really sells it. Thanks for the add.

He seems pretty interesting. Will make a point to check out at least one of his stories. Thanks.

I kinda feel like I was just Rick Roll'd...I don't think that's a pre-90's reference though. I don't really know of much since I was born in '86 and was raised in a strict church that didn't allow outside opinions or influences. Also, I'm not a big old entertainment buff...in hindsight, I probably shouldn't have posted on this thread but I wanted to state my displeasure at the feeling of being Rick Roll'd.
Oh, I remember Space Invaders do I get points for that?
Oh sh*t, I had completely forgotten about the Beatles. Ya gotta love'm

What's wrong with the 90s?
Nothing. Things really didn't start to go down hill until the rise of reality television in the early 2000's. But the 90's are just too recent to be "rediscovered" IMO. It leaves a big gap for video games, that's when all the best ones were made. But there's TONS of great movies, music and books pre 90's.

It's like people will sit there and mope about nothing good coming out but they won't look behind them to see the mountain of stuff they've missed.
