Going In Blind

How blind does it count as to avoid lots of gameplay, but read some interviews, maybe watch some, or hey how about play the game's demo a few months before the game itself come out!

For a while I did go into games blind. Very recently though I've had several opportunities to play the games I really want a few months ahead of release. I had the Battlefield Bad Company 2 beta when it first started (as opposed to this demo). I got the God of War III demo around the time Collection came out (so November?). And I suppose I got the Heavy Rain demo three weeks before the game releases.

Bad Company 2 actually I went into the beta completely ignorant of the series. I had never even played the first one. I really like the beta and demo, and now I fully anticipate the game.

God of War III: I played the first one and was sucked in by the mythology, solid control and combat, and the fluid and quick pace. Don't know how blind I could ever go into a game that I really only think will be a graphic update of the last. I've seen no other gameplay other than what I've played (not like there is any more available).

Heavy Rain I've followed so much actually. From the first paragraph I read about it to the several interviews since then. And of course, during the interviews, they show gameplay. By the time I played the demo I knew exactly what was happening and it really did feel like I've been playing the game all along.

I've had that feeling with some other games a few years in the past. Followed them strongly and by the time they released playing them was already second nature. It's an odd feeling; picking up a controller and knowing exactly what to do, even the small gimmicks that actually do need explaining. I'd like to travel more in the blind though.

I go in blind almost all the time. I find that watching gameplay ruins the experience for me for some reason.

I'm going into Heavy Rain as blind as possible (Although, seeing thread titles on the news forums with spoilers about the game are unavoidable, unfortunerally :( )

I did this for Team fortress 2, and indeed portal too. Frickin' awesome that was. I didn't know that much about fallout 3, but heard it hyped a lot, and picked it up immeidiately when I saw it on sale for 25 quid. Team fortress is about the only game I played with literally NO indication of what it was about, whether it was good etc. I'm usually pretty careful with my money, and in the case of something I've been looking forward to something for a long time, I usually can't help check it out on the way. I'm going to try and do this for the next zelda though. I will fail...

I tend to only watch trailers not gameplay footage. Unless it is for a sequel and I already have the gist of what the gameplay is about. I watched the RDR trailers because it looked so awesome, and I was a huge fan of Red Dead Revolver and GUN. Western games don't get what they deserve. More of them.

I thought this was going to be a threat on blind vs. heuristic search. Too many AI assignments.

I'd rather fly blind. If I really want to get the game then I'm getting it no matter what so I mind as well experience without spoilers or early knowledge of gameplay parts.

I'm starting to consider going in blind to games.

Ever since Fable 2 got 90%'s and Gold Awards left and right and I thought it was a steaming pile of mediocrity and since Halo got deemed "BEST GAME EVAR" by every review website in the universe and I thought it was total shit on a bun I haven't really believed hype.

I recently purchased Praetorians despite having heard nothing about it.

What I've bought is apparently a cult classic with what is or was a dedicated community, as well as a real emphasis on strategy over the usual RTS method of "who builds most quickest wins".

I avoid it now. I used to be all over the net scouring vids and whatnot about upcoming games. Then came to the conclusion I was ruining gaming for myself. I would get bored watching the same scene I had youtubed weeks earlier. The previews always got me over excited which lead to disappointment. I find gaming more enjoyable not looking for specific glitches that some reviewer has mentioned.
