I think it is fair to say most people hate seeing the plot twist or best joke of a movie be revealed in the trailer and sometimes not knowing what to expect before seeing a movie can be a great experience. I have never found this with gaming because of high prices the need to get the game that gives the best value is important. So is their a game that you think might have been better if you didn't know what to expect or have you had this experience?

I guess a giant "WTF" moment is as good as any to get a shock out of the consumer. Problem is, plot twists as of late... kind of suck. (I'm looking at you, Bionic Commando!)

Jade Empire, Bioshock and Braid. I actually didn't know about the first two when I played them. It worked because all of them are deconstructions of video game narratives.

And truthfully I'd prefer a good plot twist over a superfluous sex scene or extremely over-the-top violence.

Indeed, I think we all would (The less perverted/psychotic of us, I mean.)
I think Mad World managed to have it's cake and eat it too, with a good handful of plot twists, and over the top violence.

I would have enjoyed Fallout 3's ending a lot more if my friend hadn't made very obvious hints about what was going to go down.

He goes "Yeah, you have to restart and make a new character at the end. I won't tell you why, because I don't want to spoil it. You just can't play as the same person unless you reload from an older save."

Because if it didn't have a twist, it would be predictable and predictable plots aren't very interesting.

games can give surprise in two ways both in how the game plays and story telling so is there also any games that surprised you how they went about either of these parts?

stories are extra good if they have good twists. i think games would be a looot more fun with plot twists (and a good story of course). most games dont have good stories or twists, so i read books to get my story needs fufilled

Mad World makes you look at everything differently.
No nescessarily Gameplay wise, but definitely story wise.
DON'T READ THIS NEXT PART IF YOU DON'T WISH TO HAVE MAD WORLD SPOILED
Finding out that everyone in the Tournament is just a normal person like you or me is really jarring. Especially finding out that they're just trying to fight to stay alive for the cure. It's almost hard to look at them the same way.

KOTOR, Bioshock, and STALKER come to mind as some of my favorite plot twists in gaming.

Had someone told me about them beforehand, I would have strangled that person to death.

I can't believe people actually felt that scene was sad. I see comments like "zomg. I craied :*(" And I just have to ask: HOW!?
You are given no time to emotionally attach, and therefore care about her. And if anything, I wanted her to leave the script ASAP so that Dom could get back to the mission at hand.

I went into bioshock blind, even to the point where I decided to try and play it without playing like I played halo or other FPS games. I found it much more immersive doing it that way, instead of just trying to get through the game.

But the twist is used so often that if you actually watch the movie you'll see it coming in the first half hour. I don't know what the last twist to actually GET me was.

i thought that part of gears 2 was not very well done because it seems very shoe horned into the main story you don't really go that far out of the way to find her and after you do the story just goes on like it would have minus her
