In a game it would have to be one of the many hyperspace jumps I made in Star Wars X-Wing back in the day. Wipeout HD and Extreme G racing are also fast, never got around to playing F-zero.

IRL - 150ish mph in a turbo gsr Integra. It was stupid, but I had to max it out at least once after all the money I put into it right?

OP: When I first rode a buggy in Far Cry 2 the way those things accelerated made things a little hectic, but I eventually grew to love them.

I really couldn't tell you for sure, its the little things that add up you know? The peakboost turbo kit was about $3000 and tune+dyno time was another $1000. Also had to get a new clutch, exhaust, suspension (didn't really need to but was definitely a good thing to do), intake manifold, and a ton of little things like injectors, flywheel, etc. all told at least 8-10 grand not including the price of the car. Did all the work myself so I did not have to pay any labor costs other than the tune. It was a fun car, but man I wish all my hobbies were as cheap as gaming! (Not trying to offend pc gamers, as I am sure they can rack up bills just as high, but I am a consoletard, therefore I am paying as much money for a game as I pay for the lug nuts on my car)

I never have played a racing game that gives me a sense of speed. Which I find funny because that is kinda the point of racing games. In real life I think I have went somewhere around 170.

Well, forgoing the numerous smart-ass answers about going warp speed in a game. I'll go with the real life answer:

I once got my Acura Integra GSR up to 135 mph (~6500 RPM in 5th gear). I haven't tested the top speed of my current car (Acura TL-S), but I hear it's governed to 155 mph max, and I have no doubt it would go at least that fast. I had it up to 105 mph in 6th gear and it was barely over 3500 RPM, with plenty of power left.
