i was watching the trailer for Nintendo 3DS on youtube and this popped up in the related videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vK_98zILDo&feature=related

at first, i was very happy. i have completed the first 2 games 3 times now, the second and third times as perfectly as i am able. i've been waiting for a long time.

and yet after watching the video i am dissapointed (mind the spelling). i'm not entirely sure why though. I get the feeling that... The soul of Golden Sun has been unneccesarily changed in an attempt to re-create a sort of Final fantasy DS game feel to it. Is this just me or am i being silly? i know that if i get posters, some of them will use ZP opinions, claiming them as their own saying things like "don't be a fanboy, if you just give the game "respect" and stay hung on the old series, no room for development etc. etc." to that i retort "why fix what wasn't broken?"
I'm dissapointed in the Graphics change i think. it just doesn't look like Golden Sun to me anymore. It looks like a cartoonier version of Final Fantasy 3 or 4 on DS.

Anyway, enough about my thoughts, unless you want to comment against/for my opinion. What are your opinions on the game? as a Fan of the Old series (i know there are a few out there) and as someone who's never heard of such an obscure JRPG that came out for GBA exclusivly (i'd prefer not to be the accidental host of a hand-held-console war of some sort though)

done a search the escapist just before i posted this and... nope, last thing about this Golden Sun was in 2009 :D meaning that my first thread is hopefully going to be a success

If people were going to quote Yahtzee they'd say something about how JRPG's suck

OT: I didn't feel like the game show'd enough for me to really get an opinion. It pretty much looked like Golden Sun to me though

Im not sure I like the change in graphical style. Its a step backwards if you ask me. Other than that I'll probably buy it just because 1 and 2 were my absolute favorite games of all time.

Anyone else think Boktai when it was announced? I get them confused more often than you might think.
OT: I think nintendo is spying on me. The moment my DS breaks they start releasing all the cool stuff. I want it.

I'm confused as to how one is supposed to get a save file from GS:LA to the new GS. I've never beaten the second due to the cartridge being chewed up by a certain critter, but I have a feeling that it will be rather annoying to transfer your files over.

I miss the graphics style of the first and second as well: Though if the mechanics remain the same, I can deal with cheesy graphics. I loved the whole class changing based upon Djinn, especially during battle. So I truly hope that it stays in and isn't replaced for something with a more "casual" system. And by Casual, I mean one that's been dumbed down and lost some of the intricacies that the old ones got me hooked on.

yeah, but then them posting on the thread would be a little obsolete. But your actual point is fair enough, it does look like Golden Sun, what with the psyenergy "push" and all that. it just looks like they have taken

(in the graphics department)

which leads me to Walkchalk's post. Yes, the point still stands that I will purchase and complete the game regardless of how much i winge about it being too much of a change ¬_¬ silly me

I would have preferred them to use the old graphics style. The DS creates 2D-ish, cartoony games beautifully, but the 3D efforts look relatively ugly. They should have just taken the old games and added a bunch more colour and detail, not 3D-ify it.

I'm sure I'll grow to like it though. My bigger problem is finding a copy of The Lost Age before it comes out, as I refuse to play it with playing the second game first.
ahuh, its definatly the 3D effect they are trying to make. Golden Sun was fine 2D (for the running around). But i guess i can't complain with them for making the battles more 3D.. just they don't look as good to me anymore
you should definately try pick up a lost age copy, try here (spoiler is because of large link)

sure, its used, but its a GBA cartridge, used shouldn't make much of a difference (unless he means used to scoop up ice-cream and then licked clean...)

I'm sure its not that hard... i know that DS games are able to at least recognise what the GBA game is in the cartridge slot. so i'm sure pulling save data off it will be fine. The DSi has a problem though... hmmm, well i'm sure they could make a USB style cable that you can put the GBA cartridge into to get the data from. But the trailer made it seem like the story isn't as continued, as if the adventure is Isaacs child, who happens to dress exactly like him, so maybe its not necessary for save data. much to my dismay xD
oooh, if they've messed with the Djinn system!! i'll play the game with a distaste in my mouth and they won't ever know and won't be bothered by it -_-

I'll be the one to say it.

It looks like the people are bobble heads. It needed to be said.

Either way, I'm still getting this game.
