Since we in America have abused, misused, and downright destroyed pretty much every original Anime film that has come out of Japan's entertainment industry by making it into a horrible or at best mediocre live action film. I think they should be allowed to do the same to us.
So I propose we give the Japanese the right remake or 're-imagine' Gone with the Wind with robots. I mean how awesome would a Civil War movie be that is not just big budget, but with fighting robots?
They could change the setting to be more familiar or make it an imaginary land. They just have to make it live action and make all the white characters Japanese and all the black characters white. That's the only stipulation beyond the battling robots. They could recreate battle scenes with massive blue and grey robots wreaking havoc on the landscape and each-other. They could make it cyber-punk and give the characters new less Anglicized names or keep them if they want.
