Good 2D games needed - NES/SNES/PC

Can you get Outland on the PC? It has a really simple silhouetted design, looks great and it's a lot of fun.

As for the SNES, my favourite game is Illusion of Gaia but I don't know the general consensus on it other than it being a Zelda rip-off.

The original Mario games (3 and the original). Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy for the RPGS.
That's all I can think.

 

[Humble Grapefruit]

The Curse of Monkey Island, or any Monkey Island games really. They require Scummvm to play if you have a newish computer but it is a point and click puzzle/adventure game that has very witty humor and is a blast to play.

Limbo is pretty great and it has simple controls. There's also lone survivor if she might like horror games.

Bomberman games are lots of fun on the SNES. Pretty simple, all you do is move around dropping bombs with one button and kicking them with another. It's the timing you have to get used too.

Also, Super Mario World is a great game to start of gaming, eve though it does become pretty hard at the end.

And I'd personally like to recommend Super Metroid and Link To The Past on the SNES. Both are pretty difficult but bloody awesome, best 2D games I still play.

For the old school, check out the Happy Video Game Nerd and 16-Bit Gems. These guys pick out some great games, some you've probably heard of, but mostly obscure.

Edit: She likes horror, huh? Sweet Home for the Famicon and the original Clock Tower for the Super Famicon. Of course, that's assuming she can read Japanese

I recommend most of the above.
And
Kingdom Rush. It's a game for crome (google's browser). Free. It's a tower defense and it's in 2D.
Personally i love it.

there is also plant vs zombies, not free(though cheap) but extremely easy (which can be a good or a bad)

Oddworld: Abes Oddysee and Abes Exoddus.



Both are available on Steam and gog.com. There are 2 more Oddworld games, but they aren't 2d (and horribly ported to PC).

I recommend using a controller, though the game is so old it won't recognise triggers. Keyboard works, but its a little clunky.

Has she ever tried changing the field of view? I know that if a game in first person has a FoV of less than 90 on a PC it gives me motion sickness.

Otherwise, I recommend the games from the D&D Anthology, alongside Final Fantasy 1-6 and the Phantasy Star series.

There is probably a lot else I would recommend, but they weren't at the top of my head.
