I'm looking for some game that can get my adrenaline flowing, and am looking for suggestions. A few considerations:

1) Replayability. If it's noticeably worse (not a lot, but enough to be noticed) the second time through, I'm not interested.

2) Findability. I want to play it, not just hear about it.

3) Cost. I'm a student: the cheaper, the better

4) Time frame. Again: I'm a student. That means I want to be able to play for 30 minutes (or less) at a time. The game can go forever, but be fine if I can play it 30 minutes at a time.

A few games that almost work are:

Freelancer (No replay value: it's great the first time through, but not nearly as good the second time. That, and it's old enough it has issues on my computer)

Unreal Tournament (Too long: most fun games last a minimum of 30 minutes, and many stretch over an hour)

A bit of an odd suggestion, but Alien Hominid HD [http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=4hX2bq2gyug] may be what you're looking for. It's only on XBLA though.

Depends mainly on the console,
but Halo's good for just a quick shoot,
or else any COD game.
maybe even gears 2? having a half hour go on horde is always fun,
especially with friends.
and if you get it at JBHI it's like 70-80$.

Falsehood! You can buy it for PS2 or GameCube! It might also be still available on Newgrounds but that download would be a beast if it's the full game.

For a really nice FPS that is everything Unreal Tournament 3 SHOULD have been (and is free!!!) try Nexuiz [http://www.alientrap.org/nexuiz/]. The single player has a few crappy bots, but the focus here is on the multiplayer online ability. It is fast-paced, full of action, and, but for the lack of a teleport and dash moves, could be the closest we will see to another Unreal sequel any time soon. What you get in this game for free is literally astounding, I couldn't believe how well crafted it was.

Enough plugging a cool thing I found. What systems do you have? This could be useful.

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. I put over 40 hours into the game without even trying. I'm not even done with my Vergil DMD run.

I also recommend God Hand, Gradius V and the PS2 Shinobi game.

And there's also an Xbox version, yeah, but I figured those would be hard to come by nowadays. Hell, they were hard to find when they came out.

I'll see your Alien Hominid, and raise you Castle Crashers. Both are $15, and you shan't regret either. That said, Alien Hominid is geared a bit more towards the hardcore crowd.

And if you want a free timewaster, Karoshi Suicide Salaryman [http://armorgames.com/play/2407/karoshi-suicide-salaryman] is good for a laugh.
