Let's consider this a sequel to my "good and bad design choices (in games)" thread.

What are good and bad choices as far as gaming systems and hardware are concerned?

ex.
Good: Adding multimedia functions to the PSP.
Bad: Adding unnecessary, unused, and unwanted functions, such as Skype.

I would like to see more consoles add keyboard/mouse support.
Although the PS3 and Wii already do, but support to use them for games would be just fantastic.

As for a bad choice, I would say basically what you said.
Adding in unnecessary functions. Especially when they interfere with overall enjoyment.

Let's go with my most hated console
Xbox 360
Good-Party chat allows you to ignore the players and talk to your friends playing different games
Bad-Paying $50 for online play(not so bad) But the use of Twitter, facebook,Netflix and last.fm NEEDS the gold membership to use. Mind you 3 out of the 4 are free

Well Monster Hunter Tri uses a Keyboard.
and LBP2(Only heard) might use it for it's level design.

Good: Designing the iPad for ease of use.
Bad: Locking it so that you cannot add anything without buying apps from the Apple store.
