I'm finally getting a gaming tablet. I decided to get a NVidia Shield to take advantage of the game streaming feature but I also want to try this crazy world of mobile gaming. I went to Google Play for like the first time in my life and was quickly overwhelmed by the number of games I've never heard of. There's some nice gems I do recognize like Dragon Quest, Baldur's Gate, Minecraft, and the like, but sooo many that I just have no idea about.

So I'm hoping to get some cool recommendations for Android games to pick up and try out.

Feel free to recommend anything but my genre preferences go:

RPG > Sim > Strategy > Platformer > Action/Adventure > Fighting > Racing > Puzzle

To give whats basically a cluster bomb answer, Check the lists of past Humble Android Bundles, since those are some good mobile games closer to something more traditional.

Other than that, Hearthstone is finally on Android, as much as that game enrages me I have to grudgingly admit its pretty good so with a tablet you can just play it where ever rather than having to sit at your PC.

Am I right in thinking you can get the various Telltale Games on android? Walking Dead, Wolf Among us, Tales from the Borderlands etc? If so, ALL OF THOSE.

I haven't actually seen them on there, but they are on Steam and I can most likely find a way to stream them to the Shield through Big Picture Mode and get them to work. I am more interested I think in games that aren't cross-platform with the PC.

I have the Baldur's Gates and Icewind Dale. All are worth getting for the fact you can play BG on the go.

For actual Android games that aren't ports, I really like Puzzles and Dragons. It's like Bejeweled meets Pokemon. It's free to play, so be careful to not part with your money too easily, but I consider it genuinely fun, and totally worth checking out.

A friend of mine also recommended Terra Battle, which is kinda of a tactical JRPG. It's a bit unique so there isn't much to compare it to, but the unit movement is performed similarly to Puzzles and Dragon's gems. It is also free to play.

Seem to remember getting an e-mail the other day saying CDProjektRed released their new mobile effort a few days ago. Witcher Battle Arena, I think? It's a MOBA iirc, though I haven't played it. Writing this has reminded me too download it, so gimme a couple of hours and let you know if its any good.

Galaxy Trucker is on Android and is fantastic. You can also get The World Ends With You which is a sublime conversion of a fantastic game. Sentinels of the Multiverse is a great fit on tablet. If you ever get a group of people with phones together Spaceteam is a must. Battlelore COmmand is a great strategy game as is Skulls of the Shogun. If you want an original rpg Chaos Rings is pretty decent.

If you get Terra Battle I recommend deleting your profile and save scumming through the tutorial until you get one of the S class offensive spell casters or a decent other S class and some kind of offensive spellcaster. Otherwise you get characters at the rate of one a week and offensive spellcasters are ludicrously rare.
