I can't recommend a book that is both good and possible to be made into a puppet show.
I can recommend a good book that I recently read, Foundation by Isaac Asimov. Maybe you could make a puppet show out of that, I must confess that my confidence in that area is not high.

Maybe Bartimaeus? Its a good book but the magic might be hard to replicate with puppets...

To be completely honest, I can't recommend you any books that would be good to make into a puppet show. I'd chew my teacher out if that were a requirement in my classes. It's kind of degrading and insulting to the authors.

Seriously, try Twilight. Read it like it's a comedy, not a wannabe drama, and you're set for a pretty great puppet show.

A...a puppet show? Really?

You'd probably be best off using a Dr. Seuss book. Simply drawn characters, nonexistent (almost) stories, should be easy.
