Dark void.....
Lost planet 2.....that one still makes me cry..
Dynasty warriors.
Maybe darksiders, i really like the gameplay, but i'm not a fan of the art direction.
Fracture....
Spider man shattered Dimension...lol i never even played this one but i'm adding it to the list.
Never got why LP2 gets hate, I played the game for over 40+ hours, never saw anything wrong with it. Sure the controls are a bit ackward, unless you go and tweak them.

Time Shift.

You can slow, stop, and even rewind time? Cool!
And you're chasing a mad scientist who's stomping around in a mechanical spider as big as a city block? Awesome!

Too bad the time mechanics don't do a whole lot, except making the game feel like a poor man's F.E.A.R.
Even worse, the mad scientist, yourself, your girlfriend, your past; none of these elements are sufficiently explained before ending the game on a wallbanger of a cliffhanger.

Great ideas, piss poor execution.
this is a very good one i forgot about, i loved the demo, got the game, played it, and was left with a massive "but..what..noo =["

ot: there are probably a ton of them i could say that a majority would disagree with..but ill agree with some kotor 2's, i loved the game to death but man it could've been so much more amounts of epic, to the point of having nerdgasms the whole game.

Assasins Creed.

If they didn't write they pretty solid concept horribly, if guards pose an actual threat, more ways to approach your target and if Ezio dies a terribly painful death I might start liking the IP.

Brotherhood will be the last game I buy otherwise, and that was mostly for the multiplayer.

inb4 Brutal Legend. No, the game was executed fantastically, you were just bad at it.
You're right except for the extremely underweight campaign (3 month wait? Why couldn't shit have happened then?!)

Still unbelievably fun and even I managed to play the RTS sections

We need more good games based on mythology. I want to see an action-rpg set in ancient Egypt. But I want better rpg elements, more exploring, and puzzles implemented into combat. And make combat like a fighting game. Lock on to an enemy, and then actually think about the battle. If people don't want to do that they can button mash, but that's just not fun for me.
There actually was a cool Zelda-style game based on Egyptian mythology call Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, though no one here seems to remember. I remember it was one of my favorites, not because it was the "best game evarz" or anything, but because it was incredibly imaginative and had a somewhat intriguing story injected with a nice bit of little humor.

Probably a lot of movie games. 90% of the time they're boring, and you can beat them in about 2 hours if you have any skill.

Black Ops.

Kidding of course. xD (I haven't even gotten the chance to play it yet! D':)

There are probably some more games I could think of, but that takes effort so forget it.

I would just like to say that this also happens with movies all the time. I have seen too many movies and thought, "Good concept! But bad execution." too many times.

Mirror's Edge, it was a great idea to be running across cranes over streets a breath-takingly long way down with tiny people on it. However, too much of the time, you are tied down having to fight people (although I don't mind being chased) and go down tiny, cramped corridors. If they make a sequel, I hope it will be a lot more open and have more extreme bits of parkour.

Yes, after reading your comment I did some quick research. Looks like a sleeper hit. The community took a shine to it, then dropped it when the bigger, more well-known franchises really started taking off. 2003 was not a good year for small, well-made but under-marketed titles.

Bioshock, unique gameplay ideas in an interesting world, but the gameplay was broken worse than MW2's multiplayer and the main unique feature (plasmids) were mere gimmicks and useless in every sense of the word.
How were they useless? It's been awhile since I played the original Bioshock but I didn't find them useless at all, there were times I was low on ammo, plasmids to the rescue.

Tell me about it! When I got it, I was like "Starcraft with Gundams! Woot!"

Then I played it, and I was like "Awwww..."

Cookies for you who remembers it though. Thought I was the only one who bought it!

I have to say Two Worlds

GREAT ideas.
The ability to take an axe and use it to throw down your enemies shield? Awesome.
Taking an equipped torch and letting you stick it in an enemies face to damage and stun them? Amazing!

Honestly, look through the game, it's FULL of AMAZING ideas that were just executed sloppily. Two Worlds is, to me, the definition of a game that simply needed polish. The foundation's there, and it's a great one, just everything else was put in wrong. I'm really hoping Two Worlds 2 is as amazing as it could be.
Agreed. I totally loved it for the most part, but the voice acting was stale and repetitive, I don't need a mother in law joke every time I come across some insect out in the field. It was also fairly buggy. I loved some of the RPG elements they put in and the combat was decent if you weren't on horseback :).

Legendary had an awesome concept. I love FPS's and myhtology, so the two together would be awesome.. THEY. JUST. DO. IT. WRONG!
This, again and again.

Spore suffers from it too, but only because they tried to market it to kids at the last second.

Though it's still an amazing game.

Deadly Creatures for the Wii. There aren't enough games where you play as a tarantula or a scorpion. The game had an awesome atmosphere, premise, and setting and all, but it was just so... Buggy. Also, the controls could've been made so much simpler and more streamlined.
LOL.... a game where you play as a tarantula or scorpion is buggy.... :)

Ass-kickers unite!

Ot- Its not a game, but i would go with the movie "skyline". The concept was pretty good.. to start off with. Then it got terrible. That's not including the acting, the plot, the characters and the ending. Then it becomes just plan bad.

In trying to say something original to the thread, though I agree with many prior statements, is the MMO that the Escapist is right now advertising.

Vindictus is a *GREAT* game for the short run, but due to their hosting architecture, how short and repetitive dungeons are, and the downtime between content releases, it seems to just fall short of long term greatness.

I love it, but what will be it's downfall is the monotony and lack of server support. I still suggest people to try it out for a little while because it's TOTALLY FREE, and fairly fun for a while.

i think he's talking about bioshock 2's multiplayer where plasmids are fairly useless causing very little damage and requiring a class built around them to be half way effective where as even the worst gun can kill you pretty easily.

Fallout New Vegas just suffers from a few bugs now that they patched most of them up, so I really wouldn't go and say that it was a great idea that was brought down by poor execution. Now if you want a game that certainly fits the bill, APB all the way. That game looked gorgeous but had the worst execution possible for an mmo. Also, Final Fantasy XIV, which was nearly unplayable at launch.

Exactly! It was WELL Worth the $5 I got it for, and I enjoy popping it in and exploring the world. It really doesn't deserve all the hate it gets. People expect AAA all the time, every time. They never get the chance to experience a diamond in the rough.
